So I'd like to try something new.
I try to find good writing prompts to jumpstart my creativity, but they're always so... limiting.
So I want to create a monthly creative writing prompt with multiple options for your own personal writing preferences.
Here's how it works:
# 1 - Look at the picture at the top of the page. Brainstorm 20 words that come to your mind when you look at this picture.
#2 - Write a paragraph describing this picture from your own perspective. Remember to use all five senses as much as possible: sight, sound, touch, taste, and feel.
#3 - Pick a character: Fairy / Hunter / Hostage
#4 - Pick a mood: Frightened / contemplative / awestruck
#5 - Now combine #3 and #4 and write a paragraph.
I'm not sure what Wattpad's character limit is for comments, but leave a comment with what you've created below!
#1 - Comment with your 20 words here
#2 - Comment with your descriptive paragraph here
#5 - Comment with your character paragraph here
I've written an example below. But try writing something on your own first before looking.

(I assumed you tried on your own first? No? Cheater. :P )

DESCRIPTIVE PARAGRAPH
Light flooded the shadows of the forest, breaking the curse of a thick night between clusters of thin trees. The fog shimmered over the roots and earth, making the sharp air and unknown rustles of the forest now peaceful instead of unnerving. Everything that was black and dead on one side of the forest was now green and full of life.
CHARACTER PARAGRAPH
(You can just do one combination if you'd like. I wanted to show a couple of different options to give you some inspiration.)
Hostage + contemplative: I wasn't sure how far I had escaped from the grounds. The forest was still and silent, unlike the rush of my pounding heart in my ears. Could they find me this far? Did they realize I was missing? Sooner or later, they'd send the Wards after me. I wasn't afraid of them; they were untrained muscles with long batons. They were useless in any real fight. Nevertheless, I had to prepare for them. I had to prepare for a lot of things.
Fairy + awestruck: Tyrus... had made this? He wasn't meant to have powers like the rest of us. He was only a half-blood. How could he use both earth spells and water spells so effortlessly? Even the full-bloods could only use one of the elemental powers, and most could only generate half the spells that Tyrus could. He couldn't have been a half-blood. He had to be something else entirely.
Hunter + Frightened: Xander crawled through the clusters of thin trees, hiding in the shadows of the thick leaves. She was here somewhere. He wasn't sure how he could feel her presence, but he could; and even though he was a seasoned hunter - one who had faced many situations in which his prey threatened his life as much as Xander had threatened theirs - there was something about this woman that was more powerful than his greatest kills. Something that was more threatening than animal instinct: merciless revenge.

Alright, so some of this is over-dramatic, but the idea is to have fun and not limit yourself. Get your creativity moving.
