"Hey-" Mrs. Brown approached Baylee as she was leaving the hospital.
"Um hello?" Baylee said confused.
"I'm Mrs. Brown." Mrs. Brown held out her hand. Baylee shook it.
"Oh Millie's mom. I'm-" Baylee got cut off.
"Baylee? Yeah we've heard about you. The nicest Southsider we've ever heard of." Mrs. Brown said. Mr. Brown came over.
"Mr. Brown?" Baylee said and held out her hand. He shook it.
"That would be me." he said.
"We just wanted to thank you for saving our girl." Mrs. Brown said.
"That's what friends are for." Baylee shrugged.
They parted ways and weeks passed. Baylee had just got done dealing with trouble and received a black eye in the doing, when her phone rang.
"Hello?" Baylee answered.
"Hey Baylee it's Millie... think you could come over?" Millie asked.
"Sure." Baylee said.
Millie gave her her address and Baylee headed over. Baylee knocked. No answer. She called and texted Millie... no answer. Baylee looked around the outside of the house. Only one room light was on. Baylee climbed on up. The curtains were drawn but the shadows were clear. Baylee busted through the glass door. Jacob came at her with a knife but Baylee caught his hand.
"Holy fuck..." Baylee mumbled looking at Millie. She was sliced up and had roped around her mouth and duck tape. She was tied down. Baylee looked back at Jacob and easily got the knife and knocked him out. Baylee tossed the knife aside and ran to Millie. She got everything off Millie's mouth and Millie was sobbing. Baylee picked up the knife and began cutting ropes. Baylee froze at a rope that was on Millie's lower belly when she noticed Millie had a some what large protruding belly.
"M-Millie?" Baylee said and looked up at Millie. Millie nodded crying. Baylee cut her free and they hugged tight.
"You gotta get out of here." Millie said.
"No. What no Millie." Baylee wouldn't let her go.
"There are more of them downstairs with my phone waiting for you." Millie said.
"Come with me." Baylee said. Baylee gave Millie her jacket and it fit like a dress Millie was so bony. She got on Baylee's back and took her home. Baylee helped her clean up after Millie asked her not to leave. She got dressed with some help than they laid in Baylee's bed. Millie laid on her side and put an arm over Baylee and Baylee had an arm around Millie.
"Thanks." Millie said.
"Was that your house?" Baylee asked.
"No that was Henry's. One of Jacobs friends." Millie said. Baylee suddenly sat up and looked at Millie.
"Where you going to tell me?" Baylee asked.
"About?" Millie said.
"Don't act like you don't know, how far along are you?" Baylee asked.
"Four months..." Millie said.
"Do you trust me?" Baylee asked. Millie nodded yes. Baylee gently lifted Millie's shirt and put her hand on Millie's belly.
"I mean, it's very cute." Baylee said. Millie grinned and blushed.
Baylee laid down next to Millie and gently put an arm over her. Millie turned so that she was laying on her side facing Baylee and put her arm over her. Millie was fidgeting a little.
"You ok?" Baylee asked.
"Yeah my hips are just... sore." Millie said. Baylee took a pillow and set it between Millie's legs and it took the pressure off. They curled up and fell asleep. Baylee woke up the next morning and Millie was gone but she found a note.
'Thank you so much, your clothes will be in your locker at school. I love you but if I don't go back he might come for you.'
Baylee sighed than knocked her night stand over in anger. She got up and called Sadie.
"Meet me at the diner." Baylee said.
They met up and Baylee told Sadie everything.
"That's super important I know but we've now got a murder investigation on our hands that we haven't even started looking into." Sadie said and handed Baylee a file.
"Found with a belt around his neck... Sadie that isn't the first time that's happened in the last month." Baylee said.
"What do you mean?" Sadie said.
"There's been about four others..." Baylee said.
"Well then why haven't we looked into it?" Sadie asked.
"They were dads cases." Baylee said.
"Well if you snooped once you can snoop again... we need to get the files." Sadie said.
"I know... it's just where he's keeping them..." Baylee said.
"Where?" Sadie asked.
"There at Southpoint Strip Club. He didn't think I'd go in there but it's where he keeps all his files." Baylee said.
"So in other words we shouldn't bring the boys." Sadie said.
"No boys." Baylee laughed. The two headed out. Getting the files was easier than expected.
"I say we celebrate down town." Sadie smiled.
"Call up the boys." Baylee laughed. The group met up at a small pub and had their corner booth like normal.
"Tonight's karaoke night. You know what that means." Finn grinned at Baylee.
"No." Baylee said.
"Please!!" All the guys chimed in. Baylee rolled her eyes and got up and they all shouted victoriously. She grabbed the mic.
"Number 0654" Baylee said. The guy grinned and nodded. Baylee picked up a guitar and the band got ready.
When the song ended Baylee set the guitar down and laughed at everyone who had crowded into the pub to dance and sing along. She hopped off the stage when her eyes met Millie's.
"So, gang leader by day superstar at night?" Millie smirked.
"Millie?! What are you doing here!" Baylee grinned and the two hugged.
"Sadie may or may not have stolen your phone." Millie laughed as Baylee felt her empty back pocket. Sadie came over.
"You wouldn't shut up about her so I invited her." Sadie laughed. Baylee rolled her eyes and Millie put her hand in Baylee's and they all walked to the table.
