"So (Y/N), it's been six months and you still don't have a boyfriend. You have gone about life outside of this god forsaken building and complained about how you're lonely but done nothing about it." Tina said. (Y/N), as always, wasn't paying attention. She had one thing on her mind at the time and that was survive the day. At that moment it was only 8:45, they still had seven hours of the day left. First period hadn't even started. And here they were, walking through the halls complaining about (Y/N)'s love life.

"I'm working on it Tina. In case you haven't noticed, none of the boys here really trip my trigger." She responded. Tina scoffed and then went silent.

"You're not lesbian are you? Cause I mean it's fine if you are but like all this time I've-"

"No Tina, I'm not lesbian. You can calm down. I just don't see the boys here the same way the rest of the girls do. Like Gavin over there." (Y/N) said as she motioned to Gavin Reed, captain of the football team, one of the most popular and admired boys, and occasional student. He had this air about him that screamed that he shouldn't be messed with. And if the confidence he carried himself with didn't prove to you that you shouldn't mess with him, the scars on his face from fights he had gotten into years ago definitely would.

"Hey sweet cheeks, you doing anything later?" He questioned as he wrapped an arm around (Y/N)'s shoulders. He had made it his goal to get every girl in the school wrapped around his finger and so far, he had succeeded. "I was thinkin' maybe we could, y'know, get outta here?"

"Speak of the devil." She grumbled under her breath. "Oh Gavin, please, please whisk me away from this terrible place. Take me to a world of bliss and pleasure." She remarked at him sarcastically. (Y/N) had taken to disliking Gavin from the moment she laid eyes on him. She didn't like a single thing about him. His cockiness, his appearance, his friends, everything, she hated it all.

"You joke but we both know that you would in a heartbeat."

"Do I know that? Last I checked I hated your guts." She spat as she took his arm off her shoulders.

"C'mon (Y/N), let's get to class before we're late." Tina suggested in an attempt to get her away from what could be a potential ass beating.

Once they made it to their first hour, English, the final bell rang to signal that anyone who had arrived after was tardy. Not long after everyone had settled in a call over the intercom had called (Y/N) down to the office. "Sorry Tina, but I'm needed. Can you grab whatever assignments I might miss?" Tina nodded and (Y/N) made her way to the office.

When she had arrived she saw someone who didn't look familiar in the least. 'He must be new.' She thought to herself. Upon closer inspection she made a point to try to memorize his face. His deep brown eyes, chestnut hair, fair skin, and little freckles scattered across his face. He was kinda cute. "(Y/N), this is Connor Anderson, as I'm sure you already know he's new here. We need someone to show him around and we decided that you would be the best candidate."

"Alright, well Connor, let's get this show on the road."

He gently snickered to himself. The two of them made their way around the halls of the school, pointing out which rooms were for which class and their respective teachers. "So where'd you blow in from?" (Y/N) asked in an attempt to make the air slightly more comfortable.

"Ah, uhh, well my dad, brother, and I just moved here from Detroit. More opportunities, y'know?" She nodded, her family ended up moving there because of a job opportunity her father had. They'd stayed there ever since. She knew how it felt, to pack up and move, be dropped into a new spot with no one to count on except her family. It was awkward, then she met Tina. She hoped that she could be just as helpful to Connor as Tina was to her.

"So your brother, older or younger?"

"He's younger, by only a few months. Dad decided it would probably be best for everyone else in the school if we went to separate schools. Make life easier for everyone." (Y/N) mulled the thought over in her mind a bit. Did they hate each other or something? Why did they need to be separated? "It's not cause we fight or anything, it's just, we look a lot alike. We've been confused for each other a few times. The look you had on your face made me think you were worried so, I, yeah."

"It's alright, you're good. Hey, we should probably get to class. Don't you think?" She inquired, with that they parted ways.
