Pain

Soobin groaned silently on the white bed. He winced in pain under the soft sheets as he squeezed his eyes shut.

Suffering from chronic pain was the epitome of the saying 'everybody always has ups and downs'.

Everytime he had done something that had to do with his body, or basically do anything fun, the next day would always be a day full of pain from the body aches.

A creaking noise from the door was heard. Yeonjun walked in with a tray full of food. Placing it on top of the table beside the bed that they shared.

"I made you dinner in bed! Since it's resting day today."

'Resting day' would be the term that they used to refer to the days full of pain that Soobin had to go though every other day. It was a cycle that he got caught in shortly after the married couple's 3rd anniversary.

"Thanks. Even though I could've just walked myself downstairs into the kitchen." The younger managed to push out of his itchy and scratched up throat.

"I can't afford to watch you hurt yourself walking down the stairs."

Yeonjun looked at his eyes. The eyes that would always sparkle before him.  Although, this time, it was sparkling from the tears that were threatening to roll down his temples.

"Besides, I made food for myself too, so we can both have our dinner in bed!"

"You know, I don't think dinner in bed is a real thing. It's usually just a breakfast in bed."

"Neither does lunch in bed." Soobin added to his sentence.

Yeonjun shrugged. "Too much takeout is bad for us you know. I just wanted to cook us some good food. Without having to trouble you."

"I didn't want to be the one troubling you either."

Yeonjun paused. Looking at his husband.

Soobin noticed that Yeonjun's eyes had dark circles around them. It was like he just got beaten up. But he was just lacking sleep.

And it was all because of him.

Soobin felt so weak. Physically, and emotionally. He was helpless.

"I'm gonna go wash the dishes now." Yeonjun smiled at him.

"And I'm gonna go to the bathroom."

Yeonjun stopped in his tracks.

"What? Going to the bathroom?"

Soobin raised his eyebrows. "Well yeah, I gotta go pee."

"I'll help you up then." The older said as he put the tray back down.

"No you won't. Go wash the dishes. I can get up by myself."

"You can but you're only gonna take longer if I don't help you. You can't even move without crying in pain."

Soobin looked down. He was right.

"S-Soobin, baby, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say that."

"Please just let me help you get to the bathroom."

Soobin didn't say anything. Yeonjun proceeded to put his arms underneath Soobin's frail body and carry him over to the toilet.

After Soobin finished, Yeonjun put Soobin's arm around his shoulder and walked with him.

But the wet bathroom floor caused Yeonjun to slip.

He had thankfully grabbed on to the sink. Preventing himself from crashing his head and possibly breaking something.

What he didn't realize was that he had moved the other's body too much. Yeonjun turned around to see Soobin groaning and crying in pain.

Yeonjun hurriedly but carefully carried Soobin and laid him down on the bed. Repeatedly apologizing and whispering sweet nothings to the sobbing boy who was almost screaming in pain.

Yeonjun built so much courage and emotional strength to prevent himself from breaking down in front of his hurting husband.

A few minutes have passed by. And Soobin has already calmed down and was starting to feel less pain. It was still painful, but less painful than how he felt earlier.

Yeonjun stopped rubbing his thumb over Soobin's hand, and silently stood up from the floor.

"I'm gonna wash the dishes now."

Yeonjun planted a soft kiss on his lover's forehead and lips before he held the heavy tray and walked out of the room.

It was a tiring day. Especially for Soobin. Which ended up with him falling asleep while waiting for Yeonjun.

Yeonjun looked at the floor as he walked into the kitchen and over to the sink. And it was there that he stood for a moment. Staring at the sink. Before collapsing onto the floor and bursting into tears.

The world was so unfair.

Soobin was the happiest, the prettiest, the most cheerful, the kindest, the most warm-hearted person that he has ever encountered in his life. He was the best person ever to Yeonjun.

Soobin was the one that has helped Yeonjun go through so much. He was the kindest. He always had so much love to give to the world.

And it was so unfair.

It was so unfair that the world had to treat him like this. That Soobin had to go through all this pain.

And for what?

Soobin fluttered his eyes open. Today was another day. And thankfully, his body was feeling okay. He could finally get up on his own.

He turned around. And noticed that his husband wasn't beside him.

Soobin silently flipped the sheets off of his body and walked downstairs.

He checked the living room. And Yeonjun was still nowhere to be found.

He was starting to get worried.

The kitchen was the only room left for him to check.

He opened the door and saw his husband.

Lying down on the cold floor. Fast asleep. With his cheeks drying from the tears that fell from his dark eyes.

Soobin wishes that he didn't have chronic pain.
