Jace's P.O.V
I was on my way home, not focusing on much, when a person sped past me at an incredible pace. "Excuse me!" she shouted as she passed by. I was bewildered at the girl who was now a speck on the hill. After shaking my head to clear my thoughts, I began to walk again. "Alp- I mean, Jace!" my best friend, Austin, yelled at me from a distance. "Huh?" I smartly answered. "There are more supernaturals. No one knows what they are yet, but they're dangerous." the boy informed me, pushing his blonde hair out of his green eyes. I nodded, my expression sharp. Suddenly, a thought dawned on me. "What if she's in trouble?" I muttered before taking off to the supernaturals. "Jace!" Austin called. I glanced back at my lifelong friend. "Stay safe, man." he said softly. I nodded and continued my long run to the one I cared most for. 'Are you okay? Please, just hang in there.' I mentally asked, though I knew she couldn't hear me. I sped my pace up. After walking for what seemed like forever, I finally spotted Melody walking with a woman and two bulky men on either side of the woman. "Hey, Melody! Wait up!" I hollered, jogging to her side. "Get back, boy. You have no business interfering...no even talking to us." The guard closest to Melody growled out. "What's going on? Are you okay?" I asked her. "Yeah, I'm fine, Jace. You have to go. I promise I'll explain later. "No, tell me what's going on. I can help you." I pleaded to her. The two guards stepped forward towards me. 'Uh oh.' I thought as I prepared to fight Dumb and Dumber.
