20: Nightmares Come True

It's been about 10 minutes since I brought Lauren to the medical section of Mirana's castle, and so far, nothing's changed. I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"She will be fine, Jimmy," I heard Mirana tell me.

"I know, it's just... I don't know what's happening... and it's scaring me..." I admitted to her. "Was I out this long too?"

"No, you were out for five minutes. We do not know why Lauren isn't awake yet."

Suddenly, the room became dark; lightbulbs went out and drips shut off. I walked out to the corridor to see people running up and down and panicking. The lights here were out too.

Then I heard Lauren groaning and panting. I saw her shaking rapidly and her heart beating quick. I ran towards her when, out of nowhere, she screamed as loud as she could. Glass shattered right before Lauren opened her eyes, confused as to where she was.

"Jimmy... where am I?" she asked confused, her voice sounding panicky as she looked at her arms connecting to the drips. "Why am I connected to them...?"

Her voice was shaky and panicky, and her chocolate brown eyes threatened to let tears stream down her face. I couldn't lie to her. "You're in Wonderland. You passed out at home so I brought you here."

"You are connected to the drips because you are slowly starting to look like Alice, and we want to prevent you from looking almost like her and maybe gaining some of her personalities and all that. Oh! Jimmy, before I forget, because you are becoming our new Hatter, your Crohn's disease will be cured soon, and we do not want a Hatter with Crohn's disease," Mirana added and told Jimmy.

"Thank you, Mirana." Jimmy sat next to me as she walked out. "What happened?"

"Uh... what do you mean?" I asked, pretending not to know what he's talking about so I don't worry him too much.

"Lauren, were you having a nightmare?" Jimmy asked as I panicked.

"I don't know what you're talking about!" I answered instantly and quickly. Then he gave me his 'don't-bullshit-me' face. I sighed in defeat. "I fucking hate you sometimes."

"I know, but you love me too much to hate me on that level. What was it about?" Jimmy asked curiously.

"It was about Red Queen... I dreamt she snuck me to Wonderland and no one knew until you couldn't find me anywhere... she experimented on me... and gave me superhuman abilities... like breaking glass with only my voice... controlling blood... controlling weather... claws coming out beside my knuckles... lazar eyes... and a bunch of other shit... and she forced me to join her..." Tears rolled down my cheeks quickly as my voice was shaky and panicky. "It hurt like hell, Jimmy..."

He kissed my forehead and rested his hand on my cheek, rubbing it gently to try and calm me down. "I'm so sorry, Laur... I promise I'll make sure it doesn't happen." Jimmy had hope in his voice as he said that, making a small smile appear.

"May we go, now?" I asked him.

"Of course, MrsBeast," Jimmy answered as I got all the needles off my arms. I got off the bed and walked out with him, holding his hands.

Once we got out the castle, we waved goodbye to everyone and walked towards the tree we came out from. Jimmy and I waited until we couldn't see anyone at the castle to run towards that tree.

I couldn't sleep. Jimmy was asleep. Everyone was asleep. Except me. I sighed lightly so I wouldn't wake my boyfriend up. I was about to shut my eyes and try to sleep one more time when I felt a hand over my mouth. I heard someone that sounded like a girl say, "Don't say a word."

I knew who it was. And I knew what this was. It was the Red Queen. And I can officially say, Nightmares Come True.
