Delroy and Valorie made it a plan, they'd leave the camp as soon as they were ready and stated nothing to Clancy about the motion.
Now they were on the path that leads to the old camping spot and the location was coming up quick.
"Are you ready?" Delroy asked as they walked their horses.
"Right now, I'm rolling dice and hoping that they aren't here and just went back to Dema," Valorie said. "And then I'll roll again, hoping that they won't ever try finding us again."
Delroy bowed his head. "Me too,"
The path began to slope and in a short matter of time, they were standing in the area that once was the camp. The car was still there to prove it.
"They're not here," Delroy said.
"No, they are," Valorie said, reaching out and touching Delroy's shoulder to make him look in the direction the Bishops were in.
"The plan is still on," was all Delroy said. "You get David, I'll keep the Bishops off you."
"You mean 'Bishop'?" Valorie asked. "There's only one with David."
"Better odds for us," Delroy said. "That means that we won't have to worry about a split up."
"Then let's go before they're in Watcher proximity," Valorie said before spurring her horse to a canter. Delroy shortly after.
The hooves thundered against the mountain edge as the men trailed Agrippa up a steep edge of the mountain.
"I told you, they're not here!" David ranted.
"Enough," Nicolas silenced.
"Now Valorie!" Delroy called as Valorie rode past, pulling David off Agrippa's saddle with her.
As Valorie took a direct route to the road at the bottom of the mountain, Delroy took the path that leads up it. Leading Nicolas with him.
The horses ran up the rocky incline with a lack of struggle, stepping hoof onto solid ground and muscling up the mountain.
Delroy looked back every now and then, seeming to panic every time at the sight of Nicolas. He didn't want to head back to Dema already, it's only been a few days since his second escape.
Finally, they were at the top and had nowhere else to run. So Delroy stopped his horse on the other edge of the mountain away from Nicolas. They looked at each other from across the terrain.
"You're still a Mahlah," Nicolas remarked. "You are like a drug addict, instead of getting real help, you just go back to what you think is working."
"I'm not going back this time," Delroy stood his ground. "And I won't let you decide that for me, either."
"Delroy," Nicolas said. "You're merely straying further and further away from Guð."
Delroy shook his head. "That 'Guð' of yours is just a light you created."
"This behavior has been intolerable," Nicolas says. "For some reason, even after so many citizens left Dema, you're the one that is finally making it all crumble."
"Good," Delroy remarks. "People need to see over the walls so they can find what they really want."
"Mahlah!" Nicolas hissed. "This isn't pretty and I don't see why you would think such."
Delroy shrugged. "I don't see why you favor worshiping a false light."
"And here I thought things would be easy with you," Nicolas sneered. "I shouldn't have let you be a thorn in my side."
