Viola was used to her cast now

Viola was used to her cast now. Walking the cobblestoned streets of Fosdinovo wasn't as hard as it had been, which made taking her for walks that much easier. Though Venus was aware Viola would much rather walk around the little village by herself, she couldn't let her do it. What if she got stuck somewhere? Or got into a fight with another cat? Or her leg started hurting? Or her cast somehow came off? Venus couldn't take the risk. Instead she opted to take the little cat on walks so she knew Viola was alright. Besides, the two made quite a team.

Walking up the street to the bakery, Venus encouraged the little cat to walk along with her. Viola walked as well as she managed, looking up at Venus every once in a while, to make sure she was there. It was as if the cat needed Venus like Venus needed her; they weren't without the other now, no matter how little time they had spent together. The sign that read Panetteria – Venus knew that meant bakery now – swayed with the slight wind, making a creaking noise that was very displeasing to the ear. Cooing lightly, Venus motioned for Viola to jump up the little stair that led to the bakery, something the cat always insisted on doing herself. With a small meow, she got up, lifting her nose up to get a good whiff of the baked goods.

Venus was entirely too busy making sure the cat was alright to notice anyone else in the room. But as her eyes went to the person behind the counter, she halted a little. Salvatore, as tall, dark, and handsome as ever, stood there with a small smile on his face. He wore an apron, a tea towel over his shoulder as he placed some baked goods in the glass cabinet beside the counter. Wiping his hands on his apron, he closed the little door before leaning his hip against the marble surface.

"Good morning, Venus." He said, his slight accent making his husky voice even sexier.

"Where's Marco?"

The suddenness of the question seemed to take Salvatore off guard, and he chuckled some. "I opened today, disappointed he's not the one you lay your eyes upon this morning?"

Venus giggled, walking closer to the counter. It had been days since she'd seen Salvatore working, so she thought she had every right to be shocked by him being here instead of the head baker. Besides, she had gotten quite fond of Marco, he was good company.

"Could I have a croissant, please?" She asked, giving Salvatore a tight-lipped smile.

Salvatore gave a little nod, that charming smile not leaving his lips once as he got to work. Venus looked away from him, ultra-aware of how hot her cheeks had gotten. There was something about Salvatore that made her flustered and intrigued, but at the same time got her looking away from him. She didn't know what it was about him, and she wasn't sure she would ever figure it out completely.

One of Viola's soft meows sounded, and Salvatore stopped abruptly. Leaning over the counter, he grinned down at the little European shorthair.

"Viola!" He gave her a little wave. "Did you miss me?"
