I CAN EXPLAIN!

     "Uh..."
"And it's not even Mike! Is Jen a cheater?"
"N-no no no no!Nothing like that! He's just a friend, we're here to study, and he's gonna help me on my project"
"Are you sure? Cause he's cute, I wouldn't blame you"
     "I-"
"Anyways you're boring, I'm going to the club" The girl pushed past Jen and Two to walk of to lord knows where.
"Phew! that's Hailey, she's only here because her Dad's got money and owns a big company, and the school didn't wanna cross them" Jen sighed. "She didn't have to work for any of this, and doesn't care. She doesn't do anything and fails most of her classes! She also causes problems in the school yet they just won't ban her! Meanwhile, they threaten to kick me out..."
Two looked at her, the anger and sadness radiated off her. He wanted to comfort her, but Jen just stood up straight again and took Two's hand, leading him to her room.
Jen set the Wal-mart bag on the floor and sat Two on her bed. "Hold on, I gotta lock the front door. Be right back"
Two nodded. Jen smiled and left the room. Two looked around at the stuff in her room, though there wasn't much. It was very neat. There was a poster on the wall that looked like something out of an anime, a medium faux-fur rug that was colored brightly purple in the middle of the room, a small desk with a laptop and two blobs of metal, wires, and clay that vaguely resembled faces. There were some tools scattered around them.
"Alright I'm back, let's see what I can do... Er... Uh... Do you know exactly where your voice box or control system would be located? And how to get to that without breaking you more?"
     Two shook his head.
"Okay we're gonna need to take off your clothes"
"JEN WHAT ARE YOU DOING???" Another roommate appeared in the doorway.
     "No! He's a robot! Uh!-"
Two stood up and took off all the things covering his face, before flashing a blindingly white grin and turning on the LEDs in his eyes, and turning them off again.
"... Lord take my soul, my roommate built a damn robot... And she made it cute!"
     "I didn't-"
The roommate simply walked away into her room and slammed the door.
"Well then... That settles that, now. Let's get to work"
Overall, it took 3 hours to fix Two. And even then all Jen could do was make it possible for Two to speak again.
"Alright, test it out say something!"
"Hello! My name is Two, how may I be of service?" Two tilted his head and smiled. Jen gasped.
"I actually did it! EEE!" Jen squealed and hugged Two. He was surprised, but hugged her back.
"Thank you Jen" Two said as she stood up and stretched.
"It's no problem, now I have more experience thanks to you." Jen yawned. "I'm exhausted now"
     "Should I leave now?"
"No! I mean uh- you can stay if you want.... Do you sleep even?"
"I can go into sleep mode, which saves me battery life and allows me to process all the data from the day."
     "Okay do that"
"It has to be manually turned on and off, and during that time I cannot move on my own."
"... Well then would you like me to do that?"
     "I don't mind" Two smiled.
Jen sighed and reached over him to press the sleep mode button on his shoulder, they had learned what just about all the buttons scattering his torso. Most of them accidentally...
The freckled girl stood up and stretched. "Good night Two" She whispered as she walked over to the bathroom.
"SHIT!" She yelled as she looked in the mirror. "Jen you idiot! That huge 70% grade? I didn't do anything! Oh my god!" Jen face-palmed and bent over and laid her head on the sink.
"Are you okay Jenny?" Her roommate Bianca looked at her.
"I'm fine Bianca, I just never finished my huge project"
"What time does your class start?"
     "8:30? Why?"
     "Let's work on it!"
"I have to design and program a small robot to have one or two functions that could help someone around the house, HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DO THAT IN ONE NIGHT?"
"You have me, I'm good at building, ever since I was a kid I would dismantle my old toys and put them back together or sometimes create a whole new thing" Bianca put a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "And you got that robot or whatever, he could be helpful"
"Bianca, that's not my robot I-... It's a long story"
"No time, let's design and build"
"And program- wait! What are we gonna build with?"
"I have a bunch of extra parts and old projects that have been sitting in my closet for a while, we can probably make use out of those."
"...Alright, let's do it" Jen gave Bianca a big hug and walked back to her room.
Bianca grabbed a rather large box from her closet and dragged it over to Jen's room. "Uh... Hey Jen?"
Jen was already sketching and writing in her robotics journal. "Hmm?" She didn't even look up.
"Could you tell your robot to put a shirt on?"
.

.

.
"... yeah" Jen grabbed the hoodie Two was wearing before and turned him back on.
"Huh?" Two looked surprised... Wait... Robots don't have emotions and can't feel surprised, can they?
"Uh I need your help, and you can also put this hoodie back on"
"Sure thing, what do you need?" Two flashed a smile and put on the hoodie.
Jen stared blankly at Two for a second.
"Earth to Jen? Hello?" Bianca clapped in front of her face.
"Oh! uh- I need to design build and program a robot that can help someone around the house, like a roomba or something. I don't need to make anything flashy, big, or complicated so I'm sure it will be easy!"
"I trust your abilities and intelligence Jen, but do you understand how long it takes to even build a small project? It seems you do" Two pointed to the project on her desk.
"What oh that? That's uhm- I just need to add some lights and some programing... That's different though! Those two projects are supposed to understand each other and sense when it is their time to speak and have a conversation, I can't program the entire conversation either you know? They need to be able to talk about whatever random topic is chosen for them by my professor."
"Hmmm... Okie" Two grinned and sat down on his knees on the floor. "So what are we gonna build"
Jen chuckled, he goes from serious to cute in a second.... Cute? He's a damn robot what the hell that's creepy and kinda unnatural...
"I'm still in the design stage. Though I'm thinking of a robotic task runner. Like Alexa on legs or well, wheels"
"Alexa Jen's idea is so sad play Despacito" Bianca looked through the box and started rolling some wheels around.
Two picked up a few shards of broken glass from the box. "This seems a bit... Dangerous? For people at least?"
"pfft I'll be fine" Bianca placed the broken glass into a bag.
"And everything seems a bit... Broken?" Two picked up a frayed wire that was connected by duck tape to a piece of Lego.
"Let's just come up with ideas for now" Jen slumped down and sighed. Her notebook was hanging by literal strings, she had it since freshman year of highschool and has used it ever since.
