Ella's POV

A month.

It's been a month since I've started school and today would technically be the third month into school since we came in later into the year. Today would also be my mom's birthday. I'm just tearing up thinking about the last time I saw her.

Flashback

I wake up to the sun shining into my room and I smile widely and hop out of bed and I put my phone on the iHome and I press play and Best Song Ever by One Direction starts playing and I dance over to my bathroom and I quickly take a shower and get out wrapping a towel around me as I find clothes to wear. After I got dressed I take my phone and I quickly go downstairs.

"Morning sweetheart" My dad says kissing the top of my head and he yawns

"Tired?" I say laughing

"Yeah just up late night doing- um work stuff" he says taking a sip of his coffee and my mom comes into the kitchen

"Hey mom" I say and she walks to me and hugs me

"Hey baby girl" she says with her strong country accent

"You guys seem tense, is everything ok?" My mom and dad share a look and my mom is the first one to answer

"Oh it's nothin just some stupid work stuff going on" she smiles again and my brother walks into the kitchen with his headphones in and he grabs an apple

"I'm going on a run see y'all in an hour" he says

"Ok darling, you know I love you so very much?" My mom says walking up to him and hugging him

"I love you very much too son, I'm very proud of you" my dad says hugging him too

"Um yeah I love you too, you are aware I'm just going on a run not to college" he jokes but they don't laugh or even smile they just look at each other then hug him again and Adam hurries outside for his run

I finally look at the clock and see it's 12 in the afternoon.

"Oh wow I didn't notice how long I slept in bed"

"Well that's alright it's a Saturday after all" my dad says smiling

They have been acting a bit strange today.

"Oh is that really the time!?" My mom says rushing around the kitchen grabbing her keys

"Um uh you father and I have to deal with some- work business yeah um well soon you- oh soon" she hugs me tightly and my father hugs us both

"We love you very much and you've grown into such a beautiful, strong young woman" my dad kisses my cheek and my mom picks up a large black bag and she gives me a kiss on the cheek

"I love you so very much always remember that and I have something for you" she digs inside the large black bag and pulls out a beautiful blue/green crystal on a silver chain

"I've given you several necklaces like these throughout your years and you need to wear one of them at all times okay?" She says worry lacing her words

"Okay mom but what's going on your acting really strange today"

"It's nothing, like I said work stuff but just know you father and I love you so so so much" she smiles lightly then hugs me again
