Chapter Four

I rang the doorbell, which sent a loud chime to run through the house, and then I waited patiently. This was it; I was at my dad’s house after a long, tiring journey. I can't believe I've forgotten how long it takes to get here... I guess it was because I haven't been here in a while, ever since Kelly started to date my dad actually.

I used to love coming here when I was younger, I loved the scenery, the weather, and the fact I was with my dad. We were so close before everything went upside down and my parents divorced, we were close afterwards but the distance between us made us fade away from each other and I started to lose my dad, especially when he went through a midlife crisis and started to date that witch. He is actually still in that midlife and falling in deeper because he asked her to marry him. I was so disappointed when I heard about the engagement, the blonde bimbo probably only wants his money and then she'll ditch him broken hearted.

It was actually quite a large house I was standing in front of so from experience, I knew it takes a while for someone to get to the door.

The door opened and there she stood. She just stared at me blankly, chewing on gum.

"Yes?"

I shook my head and laughed, "You don't remember me? Typical! I'm soon to be your stepdaughter and you can't even recognise me. Wow things must disappear from that thick skull of yours pretty quickly."

Realisation kicked in and she gasped before glaring at me, "Oh great it's you! What do you want?"

"I want to see my dad... is that allowed?" she glared once more before backing down and stepping back so I could enter my dad’s home. "Thanks, so kind!" I said sarcastically.

She rolled her eyes, "Whatever you little twit, and your dads in his office." She said as she carried on popping her gum and then walked off somewhere.

I smiled and left my stuff near the front door and ran up the stairs, heading to my dad’s office. I was really excited to see him!

As I got closer I could hear he was on the phone, I went up to the door and quietly knocked. I heard him say "come in" so I opened the door and waited there, he was facing in the opposite direction as he spoke on the phone.

"Keira, I promise you I haven’t heard from Erin. I would have told you if she said where she had gone, but she hasn't spoken to me in over six months so I'm pretty sure she wouldn’t ring me up when she’s upset. Believe me!" he paused as he listened to what my mother was saying. I can't believe she had called my dad, whenever I mention him she always says bad stuff about him. I was really shocked she called, and it was about me... "Yes, yes, I'll ring you if I hear anything. Goodnight Keira." he hung up and turned round in his chair to speak to the person who was at his door. God he had a shock of his life.

"Hi dad!"

"So you flew here on your own, without telling anyone because of a broken heart?" I nodded sadly at what my dad was asking. "This must be some boy! Who is it?"

"Callum." I whispered.

"Callum? As in best friend since you were eight, Callum?" I nodded once more in reply. "Oh princess, what happened?"

I didn’t speak for a little bit as I worked up the courage inside so I could tell my dad about the horrible experience. "Well it started a couple of days ago when we were round mine doing our normal stuff when he performed me a song he wrote for his dad, I congratulated him on another heart-warming song and we were looking into one another's eyes and then something came over me and I kissed him. I then ran downstairs and when he came down, he was acting normal. So the next day I wanted to confront him about it and I did but then I thought he had a girlfriend. Then in drama we had to make up this piece about a married couple fighting about one of them cheating and it started to get personal and out of character. He then ran out of class and when I found him he was with this boy from dance class and they, they... they kissed. He's gay, dad!" I finished and burst into tears. Dad was finding it hard to process but once he did he started to comfort me as I cried. Finally after a long wait I stopped crying.
