Chapter Three

Ten minutes have past and there been still no sign of Callum. It’s getting to the point where I’m really to starting to worry. Where could he have gone?

I’m running around campus looking everywhere for him, I’ve tried looking in the normal place where we hang out but he isn’t there, I’ve also tried some places that I know he goes when he needs some peace but he isn’t there either. As I run around the college, people are giving me funny looks. To be honest I would do exactly the same if I saw someone running around. 

After a while I had run out of ideas and began to walk back to class. I then realised one place I hadn’t checked… the small forest that is on campus. We’ve gone there once or twice when either one of us has been upset and needed to go somewhere that no one was around. I started to run again but once I got close I slowed down to a walk. Inside the forest I could hear Callum’s voice. 

"I don't know what to do! She thinks I'm going out with another girl but I'm not... how am I supposed to tell her?" he said, I could hear the pain in his voice and I couldn't believe he is hurting because of me. What does he want to tell me? 

I ventured into the forest a little bit more so I could get a good view of Callum; he was sat there on a log with another boy. I think I recognised the guy from dance class, Luke I think he name was. They were just sat there; Callum had his head in his hands though. 

"Hey it will be alright," Luke said softly to him and placed a hand on his back. "How about we tell her together? At least then you won't be alone." 

Callum looked up at him and smiled, "Thank you." he said and then slowly he moved in closer to him. Then suddenly everything seemed to change into slow motion as Callum placed his hands on either side of Luke’s face and brought his lips to him so they connected, Luke responded immediately. 

It was like that one kiss made my whole world come crashing down. The guy I’m in love with was kissing another man!

I couldn't take it, I stepped back slightly holding onto my chest as the pain of what I’m witnessing made my heart try and break out my chest, making it hard to control my breathing. I stepped back onto a twig and it snapped making the kiss between Callum and Luke stop. I held my breath so I wouldn't show that I was there and so I wouldn’t start crying either. However the red jumper I was wearing gave me away. I saw on Callum's face the shock once he realised it was me. 

"Erin." he said softly. Luke was confused but once he looked in the direction Callum was, he saw me and knew that I had seen the kiss. 

I felt sick, I shook my head to myself and turned away and started to walk towards campus. I heard Callum call out my name again but I ignored him and began to run, I already knew he was going to chase after me so I might as well get a head start. 

However trying to run was hard as my legs had turned to jelly but I kept on persisting, I couldn't let him catch up to me. However my wishes weren’t listened to as he called out to me and I could tell he wasn’t far behind. A few seconds later after he knew I wasn’t going to stop, I was tackled to the floor. It wasn’t a soft and gentle tackle to the floor, it was a full on rugby tackle. As I slid into the ground mud was flying up into the air. 

“Stop, Erin! Please!” Callum begged from above me, as he was just lying on top of me so I would run away. I wriggled around so I was able to see him.

“What.” I murmured. 

“E… I’m so sorry you had to find out like this, I really am. I was going to tell you soon about all of this but when you kissed me yesterday, it threw me off track. I couldn’t find the words after that to tell you, not after when you kissed me and showed me how you felt about me. It would have been cruel to then tell you I was gay and in love with someone else.” he said to me softly, though however calm and nice he was about it, the words still stung. I nodded quickly and turned my head so he wouldn’t be able to see the tear that was running down my face. He noticed though and brought my head back so I was looking into his eyes, he wiped away the tears with his finger gently. “I am so sorry babe.”
