Y/N's POV

It's been a few weeks since I've moved to Hawkins from Ireland. I didn't have many friends back there but it was enough and I was sad to leave them since we'd been together for such a long time and vowed to write to them every month but I knew that now I could have a chance to make new friends. Maybe even a boyfriend.
I've just woken up and am now staring at the wooden roof of my room, waiting for my alarm to go off. Today was my first day at Hawkins Middle School and I was so pumped. I heard the distinctive beeping of my digital clock, hit snooze and heading for my wardrobe to pick out something to wear. I've never really been bothered about what I wear to school but today I wanted to make a good impression for my first day: a denim skirt with a matching jacket, a Gromit belt and a black Queen tshirt my dad picked up for me at one of their concerts. I throw on a pair of Doc Martens and head downstairs to go grab some breakfast before leaving to go to school.

My mom ends up having to drive me to school since the rain is getting pretty extreme.
"Do you need me to walk you in, Y/N?" She asks me, reaching into the backseat to grab my school bag.
I shake my head. "No but thanks anyway. I'll see you later, mom. Bye!"
My mom waves me off and I walk through the gates of the school, rain beating down on me as I try to hide underneath my raincoat. Inside the halls it isn't much different: the ground is just a equally slippery, students crowd the halls wearing brightly coloured rain jackets and baring umbrellas, some even run through the halls as teachers attempt to get them stop.
"Great start to the year." I think as I duck away to go and find my locker.
It's a small locker, but I manage to fit everything in it, minus the stuff I need for my first class. I have to lean against it to get it to close properly but as I soon as I lean off it, everything just tumbles out on to the ground.
I sigh in defeat, staring down at the pile of books at my feet.
"Hey..." Someone says from behind me.
I turn around and see a tall boy about my age looking down at me. "Hey?" I say, but it sounds more of a question than a greeting.
"I noticed that you just... Do you need any help with that?" He points to the books.
I laugh, kind of embarrassed. "No, it's fine, but thanks anyway... What's your name? Sorry, I, uh, I'm kind of new here and could use some people hang around with."
"I'm Troy and we could definitely hang around if you wanna. Kind of looking for some new friends myself. What's your name, anyway?" He grins at me. He's sort of cute-looking with curly brown hair and sort of constantly angry eyes...
"Y/N." I reply. "Not really that much of an exciting name is it?"
"No, it's cute. Exotic."
This boy's got some moves on him. "Thanks." I laugh. "Anyway, I probably better get going now. Class is gonna start soon and I can't be late for my first day, can I?"
Troy shakes his head. "Suppose not, then. Hey, um, you wanna sit with me at lunch or something? I have other friends too, they can be assholes but I can tell them not to be."
I shrug. "If it's not too much trouble. Thanks, Troy!" I then run off to class, ecstatic that I've finally had to the courage to become friends with an actually cute boy my age.

It's been a few months since I've become friends with Troy. His other friends seem nice, but I don't really like them. He says that I'll get used to them but I haven't yet. We were meant to hang out today but he said his goldfish died and couldn't make it so I'm totally bummed out. I even rented three movies from the VHS rental place. Three. But if that's what he wants to do then I guess that's fine. Another reason to be bummed out at the moment is that there's this dance coming up in a few weeks call Snow-Ball. How original. Apparently it's a huge deal and everyone's talking about it. I'm just praying someone will ask me as much I don't want to go. I'm praying Troy will ask me.
I'm fixing a new 'The Smiths' poster to my walk, having to balance dangerously on my desk chair, when the doorbell rings causing me to fall off with the sudden loud noise.
"I'll get it, don't worry!" I yell form the carpet.
I run down the stairs and open the door to find, surprisingly, Troy standing there, looking nervous.
"Uh, hey." I greet him. I'm sort of confused since he said he wouldn't come over today.
He clears his throat. "Good afternoon, Y/N." He smiles. "I came here today to ask you something. Will you be the snow to my cone?" I notice that he's reading off some sort of letter.
I furrow my eyebrows. "Sorry, man. I don't really like snow cones."
He sighs. "No, what I meant was- I messed up didn't I?"
I laugh. "I think so. Sorry. What were you trying to ask then?"
Troy taps his feet. "Well, I was wanting to ask you if you maybe wanted to go to the Snow-Ball with me and maybe be my girlfriend?" He says the last part so fast that it's inaudible.
"Yeah, I definitely will go to the SnowBall with you." I smile. I'm so jittery with happiness that this boy who I thought only would ever go for the popular girls asked me to 'one of the biggest events in Hawkins'. "But what was the last part?"
"The what?"
"The last thing you said."
Troy nods. "Oh... Well, what I said was, um... Listen, Y/N, I've liked you since I first met you but I had no idea how to tell you because you seemed so happy just being friends that I just let it go but I then just decided to risk it and ask you if you maybe wanted to be my girlfriend." The last part is still inaudible.
"Troy, I still can't understand the end just say it slower-" I'm cut off by Troy kissing me passionately before pulling away and running down the street.
"You kissed me back so that means yes!" He yells.
I'm left stunned and blushing. "What?"
"You want to be my girlfriend don't you?"
That boy can read me like a book.

Probably wasn't the best but I tried for y'all. I'm going to keep this book I've decided but I just need some ideas and right now I don't really have any so it might take a while. Anyway, that's all have to say!
Bye,
