How They Cheer You Up

{ James Potter }

You were having an off day during a game. Your throws were mediocre at best, flying sloppy, and your focus was going haywire. You knew your teammates had noticed, and that they undoubtedly were disappointed, which only made you feel worse.
After the game, which ended horrendously with you dropping the quaffle just as the enemy seeker caught the snitch, James came up to you. You had been walking quickly back to the common room to try to avoid your team, when you felt a presence at your side. You knew it was James, but still you continued walking as if he wasn't there. "(Y/n), stop for a moment would you? We need to talk."

Immediately you stopped walking, and turned towards James to see what he wanted. You saw his face ridden with worry and determination. Instantly you knew what was to come. Here was your boyfriend who felt obligated to console you and say kind things about you and blah blah blah. But no, no James didn't do that at all. In fact, James Potter did something infinity times better. He just took your hand and walked with you back to the castle, silently supporting you and squeezing your hand every now and then. He knew that you didn't feel like explaining yourself, or even speaking in general. So he opted to just walk with you in a comfortable silence, completely determined to play his part as a helpful boyfriend. And you couldn't lie, by the time you reached the Fat Lady, your mood had brightened and you even cracked a few a smiles. From that day on whenever you were feeling down about yourself or just upset, James would shut up and hold your hand in a comforting way. With his helping hand ( literally ), you never seemed to be able to stay upset for too long.

[ Sirius Black ]

Sirius absolutely hated to see you upset. He detested the way your beautiful eyes would tear up, or the way your hands would shake with nerves, or how your passionate attitude would falter. It reminded him of his childhood, when every night after supper he'd go back to his room with tears rolling down his cheeks because of his family. And ever since the day you first met, when he saw you hurt and weak against the group of bullies hurting you, Sirius vowed to never have you feel that way again. And he did just that. If Sirius ever saw you upset, and after so many years he definitely could tell when you weren't happy, he'd do everything in his power to make you smile. Usually he'd cracked a few jokes, or do something stupid to make you laugh and that would do the trick. But occasionally if you were upset with Sirius specifically he'd pull something sentimental. Once he sent owl after owl to your dorm with stories or comments that were overflowing with his love for you. You loved it when Sirius got sentimental, he wasn't usually one for it but occasionally he'll put all his energy into showing his love for you. And it always, without fail, cheers you up.

* Remus Lupin *

The first time Remus cheered you up was during one of your early study breaks. It had been a very stressful day, not only had each of your professors given you a mountain of homework, but at lunch you managed to spill juice all over yourself. Of course it was cleaned off easily with a swipe of your wand, but the feeling of being sticky still remained. All you wanted for the rest of your night was to have some nice peace and quiet. But no, you had to study for your OWL's! When you got to the library you were not surprised to find Remus there with a focused and intent look on his pretty face. Quickly you sat across from him, making Remus look up and smile at your presence. For a while you two sat together in a comfortable silence, each reading your own textbook and cramming notes in. Every once in a while you'd sigh heavily, or take a few seconds to regroup, both of which Remus noticed immediately. He knew you were getting stressed out, so sneakily he hid a few pieces of chocolate in your bag along with a sticky note of a smiley face for you to find later.
