Nicknames

• James Potter

His : You generally avoided using James' popular nickname "prongs" since you wanted something more original. So after trying out several different names, some of which were "baby," or "sweetheart," you ended on the simple "love." The word signified what he meant to you, and it wasn't too extravagant. But sometimes if you were in a playful mood you loved to call him "stud" to see his reaction. James ego would usually inflate after you called him this, but the slight blush that tinted his cheeks was well worth it.

Yours : "love" as well. The word just fit so beautifully into your relationship that it stuck. And of course the tingly sensation you felt whenever James sweetly called you his love was a big factor as well. But he also liked to call you "princess" occasionally, if the mood was right. You loved both terms dearly, but you had to admit when James called you princess almost shyly you felt powerful and loved.

• Sirius Black

His : You wanted to be slightly different from everyone else, so you tended to call your boyfriend "paddy" instead of "padfoot." It was short and sweet, and even though he won't admit it Sirius actually had a soft spot for the nickname. "Hot-shot" or "Mr. Hot-Shot" was also used fairly commonly, specifically every time Sirius' head grew a little too much for your liking.

Yours: Sirius absolutely loved to call you darling. He thought it was elegant in a way, and classic. Growing up he never experienced his parents show affection to him or each other, but when he thinks about classic relationships they all call eachother Darling. So from the very beginning he began to call you "his darling," or just "darling." It felt magical in a special way that Sirius never truly understood.

• Remus Lupin

His : Remus always spoke down about himself, especially around his monthly transformation. He never found himself as likable and more often than not referred to himself as a monster. Obviously, this was not going to fly with you. After you discovered this you immediately did everything you could to improve his self esteem, for example you started to call him "you hero" instead of the overused words like "baby" or "honey." And you weren't lying, Remus saved you in more ways than he thought, and everyday you tried to make him realize this. Your hero officially became a popular term for Remus, and with all your friends chiming in and calling him "(y/n)'s hero" it didn't take long until Remus grew more confident.

Yours: Sunshine, or sunny for short. You were the light in Remus' life, and just like you he put energy into you not forgetting that. You were pretty sure he called you sunny more often than your actual name, but hey, you weren't complaining.

• Peter Pettigrew

His: You weren't a big fan of nicknames, they never really stuck for you plus they could be tedious at times. But you couldn't deny that you adored to call your boyfriend Peter "champ." You loved the blush that overtook his cheeks when he heard you calling him that, and the shy smile that he couldn't shake off his face. You only called Peter champ on special occasions though, as to not ruin the surprise that came with the name every time you said it.

Yours: Teddy Bear. Peter loved to sit down and cuddle with you, and felt that the nickname was perfect for you. And you had to say, each time he called you that your heart leaped with joy and your nerves were set afire.

• Regulus Black

His : You like to keep it simple and just call him "handsome" or "sexy," that is if you choose to say a nickname at all. Reg sometimes felt insecure about his looks, especially when his older brother is brought up, so you liked to cheer him up and remind him how attractive you believed he was. And even though it's silly and you both know looks don't truly matter, it still cheers him up sometimes, which is all that matters in the end.

Yours: Call it old fashioned, but Reg got a thrill out of calling you"m'lady." It started off as a joke, he'd say it to tease you or to butter you up. But over time "m'lady" grew into a name that gave both of you chills. Now he says it constantly, at least twice a day Reg would call you his lady and it never failed to cheer you up.

• Severus Snape

His : It began as an accident. You didn't realize that more often than not you'd call Sev your angel whenever he helped you solve a problem. But boy did he realize it, and each time he heard you call him that his insides would feel squirmy and his cheeks hot. Eventually you found out how flustered your new nickname made Sev, and you being you, made sure to call him angel at least once a day.

Yours: The first time you heard it, you were sure you must've misheard. But after a few more times there was no mistaking it, Sev called you sweetie. Not only that, but also sweetheart, and the occasional sweets. You couldn't of been more delighted. Here was your moody boyfriend, always so reserved and observant, calling you this cliche pet name all of the time. And you were pretty sure he didn't realize it either, which made the situation even better.

• Lily Evans

Hers: You have a habit of calling Lily "doll." You weren't even sure why, the word just flowed out naturally. Lily found it a little weird at first, since it wasn't that common to call your girlfriend doll anymore, but now she loved to hear the out of date term. It made Lily feel special and connected to you.

Yours: Lily wasn't one for pet names herself mostly, she usually just called you by your name or occasionally a shortened version of it. But when she was feeling affectionate or jealous she would call you "beautiful." Whenever she did it was probably followed by a kiss or a hug or some form of physical contact. The simple name "beautiful" meant the world to you, and you loved it whenever Lily deemed to use it.
