Ch. 3 First Impression

My alarm went off, as I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and groggily got out of bed. Today is my first day of work at a big company, I'm going to be working at a lab, complete opposite from my last job at Footlocker, that and with better pay! so of course a nigga had to take the opportunity. I went to the bathroom and did my usual business and then got dressed. I headed towards the kitchen to get myself a quick bite so, I grabbed a pack of pop tarts to eat on the go. I had to be at the workplace by 7:30am but I wanted to head over there a little early. As I was driving I was blaring my car to J. Cole's: The Sideline Story, several minutes had passed as I finally pulled up to the entrance of the company. While making my way through a gate, a security guard re-directed me to park at the visitor's space near the front lobby. I parked on the other side, got out and made my way inside towards the main lobby. I walked to the front desk to meet with another security guard...."Well damn, how many times am I going to run into another security guard around this place, what the hell is this company producing or some shit", as I thought to myself. My mind began to wander off about this place until the guard asked me what I needed help with. I told him it was my first day and gave him my supervisors name. The security guard pulled out a folder with different colored badges and a clipboard, he asked that I sign my name and the date on the paper while he assigned me a badge from the folder. "Ok, if you can take a seat in the waiting area, I'll give your supervisor a call and let him know that you're here", he said. I simple nodded my head and walked over to one of the couches. As I was sitting down I pulled out my phone and checked the time, it was 7:40am. I didn't know how long I had to wait for my supervisor Ethan so I decided to kill some time and go through my IG. As I was scrolling down my feed I got a text message, it was from my girlfriend Elise
Elise: Good Morning Babe....I hope you have a great first day at work today. Text me back when you get the chance. Love you baby.😘
I texted her back.....
Chris: Hey good morning beautiful😘 I haven't got brought up to the lab yet, I'm just waiting on my supervisor to come so I could begin my work day, but anyways I'll text you later I think I see him coming...Love you too baby girl.
I got up off the couch as I seen a tall gawky looking white guy come towards me. He extended his hand out and introduced himself, "Hi, I'm Ethan nice to meet you", he said. I shook his hand and briefly introduced myself as well. He lead me to some double doors as we walked into the main offices of the building. We made small talk as we passed different areas of the company, once we arrived which I assumed was the lab, he opened the door while I walked in behind him. He stopped a few feet from the door and cleared his throat. "Everyone I would like to introduce to you Chris, he is here to join us as a new employee and as a member of SST, welcome him to the lab." said Ethan. As he spoke, I looked around the lab at all of my fellow co-workers, there at least had to be around 20 to 30 people in here. All eyes were on me and I couldn't help to feel a little nervous and uncomfortable. Once Ethan was done with his introduction, everyone started to go about their way. Ethan told me to follow him, as we made our way through the lab, I turned to my right and caught eyes with this girl sitting down at her desk. We stared at each other for a couple of seconds until she turned back to her computer screen, she looked to be about my age. I faced back towards Ethan and made my way until we stopped at a cubicle. Ethan then introduced me to another man by the name of John, Ethan then excused himself and left. John started to discuss the working process, so I guess I would be working with him and his team.
Unlike my other jobs, I hoping everything goes good for me here, but I know I got this!
Well time to get my ass to work.
