Chapter 5

Lila’s POV

I wake up in Nadia’s house, feeling slightly sick. I turn over to the cabinet where my phone rests and pick it up, checking facebook. My notifications are wild! I scroll through them and they all say the same thing. ‘This person commented on a post you’re tagged in.’ ‘That person commented on a post you’re tagged in.’ Eventually I tap on this ‘post’.

Sam Pottorff and Lila Twyford are in a relationship.

I raise my eyebrow. Wow he works fast. My phone vibrates in my hand and a message text from Sam appears at the top of my screen.

Hey baby, be ready by 1 to go on a coffee double date with Ian and Nadia of course. Can’t wait to see you. x

I smile and my heart warms up. I hear a squeal emerge from Nadia’s room, she must have just gotten the message from Ian.

I get out of my bed and find a cute dress to wear. I lay my eyes on a light purple coloured dress, simple but cute. I have a shower and shave my legs. The essentials. As I walk out of the bathroom into the bedroom in my towel Nadia walks in. She takes one look at me from head to toe.

“Why aren’t you ready yet!?” She exclaims.

“Sam said be ready by 1? So I am about to get dressed?” I ask with confusion in my voice.

“He said be ready by 1, yes? Well then you should probably hurry up as it is 12:47!!” She hurries me along by pulling my arm towards my bed, throwing the dress at me, and handing me the blow dryer.

I quickly get into my dress and dry my hair when I hear a knock at the door. Nadia runs down past me and goes to open it. I pick up my purse and phone and follow her to the door, seeing sam with a penny board today. Well that’s different.

“Hey Lila.” He smiles at me.

“Hey Sam. What’s with the new board?” I ask.

“This?” He points to the penny board, “Oh nah, this is my mate Jc’s. He’s got mine. Forgot to tell you, last minute idea was that he is coming with his girlfriend.”

Just as he says that, a boy and a girl come up the driveway laughing and messing around. They stop at the door and smile at each other. He gives her a quick kiss on the nose. They look so happy!

“Hey, I’m Jc.” He puts out his hand for me to shake, I do. His hands are nice.

“I’m Jess, nice to meet you.” She gives me a small wave, then turns to Nadia giving her a hug, “Hey Nads, good to see you.”

“She’s my sister, non-identical twin actually. She chose to stay living with mum and dad.” Nadia explains to me.

I nod my head to show her I understand. As everyone walks out of the house and starts walking to Starbucks in pairs, Sam takes my hand in his.

“That’s Jess Franklin. She is also one of the most popular girls in school. As you already know, she’s Nadia’s sister. Jc is one of the boys I make videos with. He’s a good laugh, and treats her like she’s a princess.” He tells me.

“Right, do you hang around with Jess a lot?” I ask.

“Of course! She sometimes chills at mine with Jc. Did I not say us boys all live together? Ian doesn’t though. She’s one of my best mates.” He answers.

We arrive at the Starbucks and get what we want. Jess chooses the table to sit at and I follow her. We both sit and start to talk while everyone else is still choosing. Jess is a really nice person and we start to get along really well.

Eventually everybody comes to join us and we start to play would you rather, what are we… middle schoolers? The games starts to get really disgusting.

“You know, you guys have literally just put me off almost every food in the entire universe!” Jess laughs, we all laugh.

When everyone finishes their drink and cake, we leave the coffee shop.

“Yo, do you guys wanna come and hit up the skatepark with Jess and I?” Jc asks.

“Nah man we’ll probably just go back to the house.” Sam says.

“Nah it’s cool, catch you lot later!” Jc says, walking away.

Jess runs over to Nadia and hugs her goodbye. Then she comes to me and hugs me too.

“It was really nice meeting and hanging out with you, we should do it again! We’ll definitely be seeing more of each other now that you’re with Sam and I hang out at their house a lot. I can tell we’ll be great friends!” She says excitedly.

She’s such a nice person.

Ian, Nadia, and I head back to Sam’s. I ride Jc’s penny board that Sam is looking after. Like the night before Sam has to hold my hands to make sure I don’t fall off.

“One day I’ll be as good as you Sam, then we can ride together into the sunset like a typical movie.” I smile cheekily.

“One day.” He says, kissing me.

When he pulls back, I look back to where Nadia and Ian were walking. Ian didn’t look impressed. What is with him?

“Tomorrow would you like to come to mine again and watch movies all day, while we cuddle up on the couch? Then I’ll walk you back to your parents house.” He asks me.

“Just me and you?” I ask, he nods, “I would like that alot.”

Nadia and I walk back to hers and go straight to bed, we are both tired. I am very excited for tomorrow for my day with Sam. I fall asleep peacefully with happy memories of today.
