Lila’s POV

“Dude, what the hell?” I shout, shoving Ian backwards as I storm up to him.

“Woah, what’s up?” He raises his eyebrows.

“You know full well what’s up! What the hell have you been saying to Sam? Actually don’t answer because I know what you’ve been saying to Sam.” I spit.

I nods.

“Look come sit down.” He sighs, obviously knowing what I’m talking about.

Not wanting to cause a scene, I follow Ian and sit under some trees. He looks at me, his beautiful green eyes stare straight into mine. I ignore the warm feeling surrounding my heart and focus on being angry with him.

“Well? Care you explain?” I continue, trying to be restraint.

“The bottom line is, I’ve been lying to Sam about you. Saying you’ve done horrible things. Clearly you haven’t.” He says honestly.

I look at him, lost for words.

“I’m sorry.” He sighs.

“Ian, why would you do that to me? I thought we were good, I thought we were friends.” I take in a deep breath, holding back tears.

Things just aren’t going right for me this week.

“We are friends! Of course we are. I did it because I don’t want him seeing you anymore. He’s bad for you Lila, and you just keep and will continue to keep letting him getting away with it.” He explains.

“Yeah well that’s love, Ian. You make sacrifices.” I snap.

“You can’t be in love with him, Lila, you’re barely dating!” He exclaims.

“No, of course I’m not in love with him, but I do love him. As a person.” I say.

There is a pause for a while.

“You know, I’d never treat you this way, the way he does.” Ian whispers, cupping my cheek with him hand.

I smack it away.

“No, Ian. Just because you and Nadia are finished you think you can claim me and do and say what you want? You can’t. I know you probably thought you doing that was for my benefit but we all know it’s for yours. You’ve just made everything in my life go wrong again. I just keep getting hurt. Nadia most likely hates me after seeing us kiss earlier, she would’ve told her sisters too so I don’t even have Jess. Who can I truly trust?” I rush out.

“Me.” Ian sobs. Woah, Ian is an emotional kind of boy?

“No.” I snarl harshly, starting to walk away, “You’re pathetic. Sam Pottorff is my skater boy, not you Ian. So stop acting like it.”

The rest of the day goes fast. As I walk through the school gate I see Sam standing there waiting for me. My face creates a puzzled look. Before I ask what he’s doing he tells me.

“I’m walking you home. I was a dick yesterday and I’m sorry. I owe it to you.” He smiles, sorrily.

We start to walk down the street.

“You know, some would disagree, but I’m lucky to have you.” I giggle.

“Why’s that?” He asks.

“No matter how bad things get, you always recognise your mistakes and apologise.” I say.

He nods to agree. We walk back to mine in silence. He stops at the door.

“Can I, uhh, can I come in so we can talk? About the last couple of days and how I’ve acted. About Ian too.” He asks.

I nod. He walks through the door.

“Go up to my room, I’d rather not have my parents listening to our conversation.” I instruct in the kindest possible way.

I follow him up after shutting the front door. He sits on the edge of my bed. I walk into my room and shut that door also. I crawl onto my bed as well.

“Would you like to start?” I ask.

“What’s been going on with you and Ian? Why would he say bad things? I just don’t understand the point, so there must be some conflict.” He says, seeming confused.

“I don’t really know to be quite honest. We’re very close and sometimes he takes it too far. He got jealous and wanted to make something up to stop you from wanting to be with me.” I explain.

“Well it worked for a while. Close as friends? And what do you mean he takes it too far… too far how?” He asks, impatiently.

“I don’t want to break up you and Ian.” I sigh.

“Too far how?” He repeats, this time much more insistently.

“He put his hand on my ass.” I whisper.

“He what!?” Sam stands up with rage.

“No, no, no, well kind of. It was my lower back, but had I not moved he would’ve gone further down.” I say, trying to calm him down.

He shakes his head in confusion.

“Have you set him straight?” He sighs, calming down.

“Oh of course Sam! We’re just friends, so can we move on?” I ask, trying to keep the peace.

“Yeah sure.” He mumbles.

“Now, let’s talk about your behaviour.” I suggest.

He nods guiltily.

We talk for another half hour, then Sam goes home. I have a nice around-the-table dinner with my parents, taking myself off to bed afterwards.

Today didn’t end up too badly. The rest of the working days go by quickly, with no issues what so ever.
