It was my last summer, my last free summer before college in Canada and I was spending it at my favourite place in the entire world, young tunes. Young tunes is a music store that I have worked at ever since i was 13 (5 years ago). It originally opened when I was 8 but it was 'child labour' to work there when you are under 13 years old so it was my 13th birthday present to start working there.

You might think why would a girl who has so much free time work at a music store. First of all, I ain't your average teen girl who loves to hang out at the beach in a bikini and gossiping on the phone, I'm a bit of a mix. I love to go to parties and hang out with my bestie Ari, I love to hang out at home and watch Netflix, I love to sing in the shower, I love to collect polaroid pictures of me and my friends and I love to listen and play music.

I also love to play the ukulele but, it's too expensive for my parents to buy it for me. When Young tunes opened, the first thing I saw was a bright yellow ukulele. Every day after school, I ran to the shop to play the ukulele for 30 minutes before dashing home. No one knows except for Ari (my bestie since birth).

When I started working there, every break I got, I played the ukulele in the sound-proof booth until my time was over. No one has wanted to buy a yellow uke but then, maybe I'm just different. One day, someone did come in the shop and wanted to buy it but then luckily, saw electrical guitar perched up on the wall and dashed over to check it out.

Today was a normal day, with the regular customers coming in and out, the soft vinyl record playing in the background and the friendly chatter of long-lost friends reuniting over CD's.

"Misha, you've been working so hard lately. Take a break, play the ukulele, see you back here in 30 mins," my boss told me, lightly pushing me away towards the sound-proof booth with my (kind of) ukulele in her hands. She didn't exactly know that I reserved it for me but she was literally the kindest person in the world so I don't think she would mind.

My free time, finally. I strummed the strings and started to sing my all-time go to ukulele song to play.

"Hey there, Delilah, don't you worry about the distance

I'm right there if you get lonely, give this song another listen

Close your eyes, listen to my voice,

it's my disguise, i'm by your si-," a flash of light of went off, I was so confused of why someone would be taking a picture in an old, dusty music store, but then realised the off-limits sheet music. If you have been in a music store, you know that on the top of the cover page of sheet music, it always says "NO COPIES ALLOWED".

As there was only me and my boss working (technically I was kinda working), I gathered up the ukulele and went outside to tell the person who took the photo off (kindly). But, as my usual clumsy self, I tripped and went tumbling down onto a customer and the ukulele.

I stammered "sorry", looked up at who I fell down on and was shocked. My favourite singer on planet earth, Shawn Mendes.
