It has been a few weeks since the coven joined Asylum. They spend most of their time with the resident demon, Remuel, as his concubines. However, conflict quickly arose between the coven's High Priestess, Cassandra and Christy Dela Cruz, Remuel's consort. After a few days, their rivalry irritated Remuel enough to make him lock them up in a room to settle their differences. When the room was opened two hours later, they were found exhausted and lying on the ground after a magical catfight.
Aside from being Remuel's concubines, the coven has other duties. With the exception of Cassandra, who insisted that she needs to always be right next to Remuel, the rest of the coven helps out in either the fields, the kitchens or in Harold's magical laboratory. With their help, the development of Asylum's magical theory quickly progressed.
Once again, Asylum prospered in both territory and population. The other communities around them seemed indifferent to this and continued with business as usual. It'd seem that everything will be in a state of tranquility once more.
Of course, while its surface seems calm, a great disturbance raged within Paraiso, a community in the island of Negros. In the former city of Sagay, now a part of the territory of Paraiso, a disease engineered by demons has sprung up, mutating every living being it comes across and even driving some of the sapient ones into insanity. The disease quickly became an epidemic within a few hours in the former city.
Those infected with the plague mutate rapidly and the ones with weaker minds become insane. The ones that lose their minds are hostile to all creatures that are not infected with the affliction. Meanwhile, those that retain their sanity gain the urge to spread the disease and make gates to hell. The demons are able to stage mass invasions to the mortal realm using this disease.
Within three days, demons and mutants overran the former cities of Escalante and Sagay – the cities held by Paraiso, and continued all the way to the ruins of Victorias. The survivors either fled or killed themselves – with a few even conducting some suicide bombings, hoping to at least damage some of the demons' forces. Of course, their efforts were in vain and the demons and mutants simply marched on.
The demons wanted to expand in all directions. However, they were unable to expand to the seas due to the Katao. Their expansion southward, on the other hand, was stopped by the Magkal tribe, a rather large tribe of snake people. That said, they have no other choice but to expand towards West, leading them straight into the territory of Asylum's neighbor and ally, Duog sang mga Baskog.
Pacifico, the leader of Asylum, is currently reading through the various reports submitted to him by his subordinates. His concentration was broken when one of his cats, Stealth, came to him.
I made Stealth stay at Duog sang mga Baskog, Pacifico thought. Something must have happened since Stealth came to me on his own.
The leader of Asylum briefly scratched his cat on the top of its head before quickly going towards the northern lookout tower. Utilizing the magical telescope Harold invented, Pacifico saw a great battle between the fighters of Duog sang mga Baskog and what seems to be a horde of mutants and demons.
This is bad, Pacifico thought. Duog sang mga Baskog will be overwhelmed soon, judging by the number of their adversaries. They have five days at best and that army of monsters will have three days at most to fully mobilize to get from there to here.
While walking towards the meeting hall, Pacifico contemplated upon the possible ways for Asylum to survive against an attack from an army of that size. The moment he arrived, he wasted no time to activate the Bell of Conference to gather the leaders of Asylum. Hearing the bell, the leaders of Asylum quickly arrive at the meeting hall.
"Now that everyone has arrived," said Pacifico "I have grave news. Duog sang mga Baskog is being attacked... and they can only hold on for five days at best."
"Who's attacking them?" Harold asks. "There should be no group from around Negros Island that can attack Duog sang mga Baskog and be that successful!"
"Well, they're not from around here," Pacifico replied. "They seem to be an army comprised of mutants and demonic legions."
"Demonic legions, you say?" Remuel asks. "Then explain why I don't feel any demonic energy?"
"Does that even matter?" Robin asks. "Those things are attacking Duog sang mga Baskog and they're winning! I have no doubt that they'll attack us afterwards and I do not want to be a sitting duck!"
"That's right!" Jacob said. "We have to prepare our defense!"
After a few moments of contemplation, Pacifico thought of an idea. "Harold, is the Protective Array ready?"
"Yes," Harold replied. "However, it will require some time to activate."
"Very well," Pacifico said. "Start activating it immediately. Now, Alejandro, are the new equipment for the explorers and guards ready yet?"
"The new equipment for the explorers is done," Alejandro replied. "As for the guards, we only finished eighty percent. We still need at least five more days to finish the last twenty percent."
"Alright get to finishing those then," Pacifico said. "Robin, equip yourself and the other explorers. As for the guard, Jacob, equip all elites before equipping the regulars; don't bother equipping the reserves yet."
"As for the rest of you, lead all civilians to the safe areas before preparing for the battle," Pacifico continued. "I'll be busy preparing for three to five days. Hold out until I finish my preparation. Our counterattack will begin once all of my preparations are complete."
Pacifico looked at everyone before saying, "Meeting is adjourned!"
Withthat, all of them begin the preparations for the incoming battle against alarge army of mutants and demons.
