The dawn shined through the tree branches, birds sang all around. The warmth of greenleaf  could cause any cat to lay out in the sun and forget all about their duties. A tuxedo cat bathed in the warm sunlight, willing for it to last forever, but she knew that she had to go on the dawn patrol. Ugh, when can I ever sleep in she thought to herself groaning silently. Yawning she stretched and got up, looking at her clanmates waiting at the edge of the camp by the camp entrance.  She watched as their mouths moved, she studied their lips as she always did, picking out different words as they spoke. She padded over to them with a smile flicking her tail in a 'hello' motion, she had a few tail motions for the simple words. The other clans knew them well as that was the few ways they could understand her. She saw their lips saying 'hello' she looked at the other cats So I'm going with... Ottercoat, Darkhawk, Bramblesnow, Quailsong, and Hawkpaw I guess. Its an interesting mix of cats, I do wonder why they were chosen for the dawn patrol.  She gazed at them and mouthed 'Do we go now?'  Starclan helped her out a bit when she was a kit by teaching her to understand different words when she was asleep, they shared her dreams because only then could she hear, they helped her learn to read lips. Willowpath was thankful for that because now she could communicate with her clanmates without much of a barrier between them.
Ottercoat nodded and they turned to leave the camp, Willowpath closed her eyes and sniffed the air she smelt different prey some mice, some squirrel, and I think there may be some fish in our lake, but I'm not sure.  She opened back up her eyes to see her clanmates staring at her, Willowpath's cheeks flushed 'Sorry.' she mouthed and they kept walking Otter coat stared at her while saying "Should we split up?" when on patrols the cats usually stared at her when talking to make sure she knew what was going on, she was appreciative but also felt a bit embarrassed that they had to go out of their way just for her.  I wish I were normal, then the other cats wouldn't have to tiptoe around me doing extra things just for me. Willowpath knew everyone else had responded and she just nodded 'Who's with who?' she mouthed and Ottercoat pointed his tail at her and him then his ail at Darkhawk and Hawkpaw then at Bramblesnow and Quailsong. 'So its just me and you?' she asked quizzically and Ottercoat nodded sighing Willowpath nodded 'Where?' she asked "By the Sunclan border, Bramblesnow and Quailsong already headed off to twolegplace border and Hawkpaw and Darkhawk went to the Tundraclan border. We are meeting here at sunhigh." Willowpath nodded and started to head to the Sunclan border, she thought about hunting but pushed the thought out of her head. This is a border patrol not a hunting party, thats for the next patrol.  She looked around seeing birds chattering and imagined what it sounded like, she must have looked sad because Ottercoat raced up beside her and tapped her with his tail 'Hey, don't be sad you don't need to hear things to understand them.' he mouthed with a smile, Willowpath smiled back at him, Ottercoat had always been a kind friend to her, for some reason that she had never understood but Ottercoat was someone she could always rely on, He is really shaping up to be a good leader, always going out of his way for everyone, always being kind to them.
'Yeah I guess your right.' she mouthed back, 'Thanks for that.' Ottercoat closed his eyes and smiled wider, not in a creepy way but in a caring way 'Of course, you are my clanmate and my friend I hate to see you sad. I really care about you.' Willowpath looked away with a smile, suddenly she halted and waved her tail at Ottercoat 'Border.' she mouthed at him and he nodded. They marked the border making sure to get everything, she turned back to see Ottercoat staring at her 'Should we hunt?' she mouthed at him 'I know we are the border patrol but bringing back a few pieces of prey would be good for the clan right? After all it's still greenleaf there is plenty of prey around.' Ottercoaat looked thoughtful for a moment then nodded at her, 'Meet back here?' he asked and Willowpelt shook her head 'No it would be better to stick together just in case we find some prey that needs two cats to hunt something.' she said looking off into the sky, she saw Ottercoat nod in the corner of her eyes, closing her eyes Willowpath opened her mouth to taste the scents around her. She opened her eyes wide 'Hawk!' she mouthed in surprise to Ottercoat he looked back at her and tilted his head, guessing he didn't smell it 'Follow me, I will try to kill it on my own but if I need help I want you to leap in after me.' Ottercoat nodded.
Willowpath dropped into a hunting crouth and stalked her way through the trees and bushes, carefully feeling before her every step to make sure she didn't step on a twig, she gazed around looking for the hawk finally her gazed locked on it, it was HUGE! It would probably feed her clan for a moon! Smiling she unsheathed her claws and snuck forward careful to make sure she didn't make a single noise, then when she was within range she leaped at the hawk making contact with it's back she saw it let out a screech but Willowpath didn't care she bit its neck and dug her claws into it's back, keeping a hold onto the hawk as it flapped it's mighty wings and tried to shake her off. Willowpath dug in and bit down ever harder she closed her eyes and tried to snap its neck by violently shaking her head but she felt herself start to move and she opened her eyes, the bird was flying high up into the sky, Willowpath started to panic and she thought of how she was going to fall far down to her death, shutting her eyes she bit down even harder and she heard a crunch, opening her eyes she saw that the bird went limp and that she was plummeting to the ground, letting out what she could assume was a screech she looked at her impending doom as the forest floor got closer and closer. Willowpath felt dizzy and the last thing she saw before passing out was a patrol of blurry cats running over to a blurry Ottercoat from the Sunclan border. Then the world went dark and she felt the sensation of falling as she slipped off of the hawks back. Two stones plummiting to the earth
