Chapter 2 Kestrelsplash (edited)

   It was a normal greenleaf morning, a lean gray tom lead a patrol to the Lakeclan border, his violet eyes reflecting the blue sky, "Hey Wolfpelt, do you mind taking Henpaw on battle training with Oceanwave Spiralfeather and Roostdawn with their apprentices Kinkajoupaw Dazzlingpaw and Creekpaw after this?" The gray tom said looking back at an all black she cat, she had a big scar on her back "They just need some more training and since the other three are probably already up its a good idea not to waste their energy." He said with a laugh "You know how those young cats can be" Wolfpelt nodded with a laugh  "Yeah I do, Henpaw can be a handful sometimes." She said gazing down at her apprentice, a small rusty colored she, she gazed into Henpaw's red'brown eyes with a smile, "And I agree she does need more battle training, after all I have smelt some foxes around Tundraclan territory." The gray cat nodded and turned to a black cat with silver paws, his green eyes glittered in all the lush green grass and leaves "Silverclaw" the gray cat said, the black cat suddenly was alert "Yes Kestrelsplash?"
   Wolfpelt looked away bitterly Silverclaw looked at her "Could you go ahead to do quick sweep of the Tundraclan border with Dewdrop to make sure no cats have crossed it? We will do a more thorough investigation of it when we get over there I just want to check the Lakeclan border since we are closer to it at the moment." Kestrelsplash flicked his tail to the silver tom beside him. Dewdrop nodded "Of course Kestrelsplash." He said turning to go check the Tundraclan border. Kestrelsplash Wolfpelt and Henpaw walked over in the direction of the Sunclan border, Kestrelsplash opened his mouth to taste the air "Seems like they just send out a border patrol to mark the border." He said and Henpaw nodded "Yeah it does!" she said hurrying on ahead, Kestrelsplash stopped in is tracks Is it... it smells like it but is it really? Ottercoat? He shook his head He's my enemy, someone of a different clan, I mustn't feel anything for him it will just weaken me and I will get killed for it! Kestrelsplash padded on catching up to the other two.
   When Kestrelsplash caught up to Henpaw and Wolfpelt he heard a odd sounding screech, it seem to have come from a cat but didn't sound like a cat's screech. He looked at his comrades "We have to go to the border now, there must be trouble!" He raced to the border weaving between the trees, heart beating so loud he thought it may just as well leap out out his chest. He slid to a stop and saw a cat he knew all to well gazing at him wide eyed in fear. "Kestrelsplash!" the cat yowled his green eyes wide, his ginger and white fur spiked out. "O-ottercoat?" Kestrelsplash said quietly "What happened?" Ottercoat looked up at the sky, Kestrelsplash saw a cat slide off a hawks back, her black and white fur, her small frame. Kestrelsplash noticed who she was immediately "It's that deaf cat, Willowpath!" He watched in horror as the small cat fell down from the sky, falling down her body hitting tree branches slowing her fall.
   There was a sickening CRACK! As she hit one of the larger branches Suddenly feeling as if his paws were rooted to the ground all he could do was watch as Willowpath his branch after branch, looking so lifeless as she finally hit the ground with a soft thud.  Kestrelsplash looked over at Henpaw and Wolfpelt. Finally after what seemed like moons even though it was mere moments he yowled "Quickly go get Windwatcher and Brightpaw! Tell them a cat fell out of the sky after sliding off of a hawks back, she's in very bad condition! hurry!" They were frozen for a second "GO!" he screeched at them and they looked at him then just  sprinted back into the woods in the direction of camp. He just gazed down at the small she-cat's limp body then at Ottercoat, they stared at each other in silence then in a wordless agreement they rushed over to Willowpath. "What did she do?" he said with a small hiss "What was she thinking? She should have known attacking that bird was a death wish!" Gazing down at the small cat he saw cuts and bruises covering every part of her body.
   They just stared helplessly at her limp body until they heard a rustling in the bushes, they whipped around to see a yellow and orange tom and a gray she with white and black patches  carrying parcels rushing towards them, and Kestrelsplash let out a sigh of relief, "Windwatcher! Brightpaw! Thank Starclan you are here you need to help Willowpath!" They didn't listen to a word he said and just shoved past him to see Willowpath, they both gasped at her condition and started pawing at her body carefully and lightly feeling for any broken bones, they looked worried and spoke in hushed tones, their paws resting on her back and her front paws, Kestrelsplash could barely pick out the words 'minor break' and 'completely broken' and the word 'bad'. He grew anxious "Don't just sit there do something!" He heard from beside him, he turned to look at Ottercoat, silently agreeing with him Brightpaw turned to hiss at Ottercoat "Shut it mousebrain! She's in bad shape! If we aren't careful or if we rush we may make it worse!" 
   The medicine cats looked at each other then back at Ottercoat and Kestrelsplash "Listen I know you care about your clanmate Ottercoat but if we move her much she will get badly hurt and if you attempt to get her back to your clan she may die, you may both have to stay here, but Willowpath will have to stay with our clan regardless, understand?" Ottercoat opened his mouth with a retort but was interrupted "We are medicine cats, we know much more then you do, what do you know about healing Lakeclan cat?" Ottercoat closed his mouth and looked at his paws "I'm sorry, continue on your work..." he mumbled, the two medicine cats huffed and turned back to Willowpath, they gently but quickly licked out her wounds and opened their parcels, they started making some poultices. Windwatcher and Brightpaw spread the poultice over her wounds and covered it with cobwebs they looked down at their remaining herbs and quickly discussed what to do, looking at Ottercoat and Kestrelsplash their eyes settled on Ottercoat then they turned back around.
   Brightpaw bit down on some thing chewed it and she spat it into Willowpath's mouth and picked up her head to make it go down her throat, they sighed in relief and turned back to Kestrelsplash and Ottercoat "You." Windwatcher said staring at Ottercoat "She cant be moved yet today but we need you to stay with her all night, I will have Brightpaw staying here with you with some herbs, tomorrow we will be able to hopefully move her into our camp and give her a comfortable nest where she will be safer then she would be out here. " Ottercoat nodded "Should we make her a nest and put her into it outher-" Windwatcher cut off the tom "No! She mustn't be moved in her current state! And we do wish for you to hunt on your side of the border since it isn't very far. you would get in trouble if you were caught hunting in our territory regardless. We will send some cats over to your camp to inform them about the situation." 
   Ottercoat nodded in defeat "Alright, is there going to be some of your cats stationed here to watch us?" Windwatcher shrugged "That's Sunstar's decision, Kestrelsplash go back to camp with Brightpaw and report this to Sunstar, I need her to gather some herbs so that she can tend to Willowpath." Kestrelsplash nodded, turning to Brightpaw "Let's go shall we?" he said to her and she nodded. They padded off to their camp together. "I'm dreading the talking to we will be getting from Sunstar, I know he wont like us sheltering our enemies in our territory, not even in our camp where we can keep an eye on him." Brightpaw gave him a dismissive flick of her tail "We will be fine, and if he has any problem with Windwatcher and my decision he will be going against Starclan and the medicine cat code, and I'm not sure he wants to go against the wrath of our ancestors." Kestrealsplash nodded remembering that in an emergency the medicine cat's have more authority then even their leaders.  They padded away to their clan, awaiting the choice of Sunstar.
