In shadows voices wrapped around a small golden kitten, she had light brown tabby marking, her amber eyes wide with fear, she felt rocks and earth collapse on top of her. "Mama? Where are you? Mama help!" She felt her breathe be taken out of her. Green and red eyes shone in the darkness "Should never..." they whispered "Should never!" yelling at the shaking young cat as more rocks fell on her pinning her down. Then slowly earth began to fall around her. She was being buried alive, the small golden she yowled for help but all that happened was that she got dirt in her mouth. When she began to suffocate she screeched for help once more before she heard her name "Mothkit, Mothkit." Gradually the soft voices began to turn into yowls "Mothkit! Mothkit!" suddenly she felt herself be jolt awake.
A steel gray tom stood over her prodding her side, his fur covered in dark gray spots, his amber eyes blazing "Mothkit no one can get any sleep around here with you screaming and thrashing in your sleep all the time!" an adult cat looked down at Mothkit compassion in her brown eyes, her sleek tan coat reflecting the sunlight, her amber paws and tail tip wrapped around her daughter "Is it the same dream again Mothkit?" she asked softly "And Steelkit don't be so rude towards your sister! It's not her fault she is having bad dreams." she said turning towards the gray tom who scowled and turned away padding out of the nursery "Come on Starlingkit lets go play outside with Wrenkit." he said turning to a black tom who nodded and said to Mothkit "Want to play with us?" she shook her head "Maybe later Starlingkit." The black tom nodded "Alright but if you want to join us your welcome at any time!" He said with a smile as he followed Steelkit outside.
Mothkit waited for a bit before going outside the den, she looked around for a certain cat. A certain cream colored cat, she has white dapples over her pelt and she has beautiful amber eyes. But she wasn't around, so Mothkit stumbled into the apprentices den and saw her in the back, she saw the only other apprentice Riverpaw wasn't in camp, he was probably out with his mentor Dewnose. So she scrambled over to Leopardpaw and pounced on her waking her up "Hey what was that fo-" she paused "Oh hey Mothkit what are you doing in the apprentices den? Aren't you still a kit?" Mothkit smiled "Haha yeah I'm still a kit but you lazybones you should be up by now! I want to play something fun, the other kits just end up hurting each other, I want to learn and train from you before I'm an apprentice!" She said "Oh speaking of the other kits I should go tell Juniperberry to get herbs ready for one of them it's only a matter of time before they hurt themselves." Mothkit yawned "Coming?" she said as she exited the den and Leopardpaw laughed "Sure."
They trotted over past the kits who were mock fighting, then entered Juniperberry's den "Hey Mothkit and Leopardpaw what do you want?" Juniperberry said kindly as they entered the den "The others are playing so it's a good idea to prepare herbs for them for when they inevitably end up hurting each other." Mothkit replied coolly, Juniperberry turned around to face them, looking inquisitively at Mothkit and muttered something to herself before turning around to gather some herbs up. "Thank you for telling me so I don't have to worry about it when the time comes." she said with a laugh "Now run along little ones I assume you have other things to do." The two she-cats left the experienced medicine cat to do her things when they left they saw Wrenkit and Steelkit heading towards then with cuts and bruises, they saw Starlingkit sitting to the side, he perked up up seeing Mothkit and Leopardpaw "Hey! Mothkit Leopardpaw! We gonna go now? I didn't play with Wrenkit and Steelkit because I was waiting for you two!" Leopardpaw nodded and the three of them headed to the dirtplace tunnel, careful no one saw them "Thanks Leopardpaw again for letting us train with you so we can become better warriors." Starlingkit said
When they got into the dirtplace tunnel the three of them went beside a bush and climbed through it, and through the hold behind it, they were outside the camp. Leopardpaw lead them away from the camp and into a hidden cave opening in the side of the mountains "I used to train here with my brother Riverpaw every day at night, we got stronger here, but since you were both Starlingkit, Riverpaw's been distant... No it's not your fault, I guess he's just jealous he's not really part of our family." There was a pain in Leopardpaw and Starlingkit's eyes, Mothkit understood them both of their siblings had died, Starlingkit's died in birth they weren't strong enough to make it, Leopardpaw's blood siblings died before they came here, that's what her mom told her, but Mothkit was never given an explanation.
Leopardpaw tried to lighten the mood "So this is the fourth time you have come with me to train right?" Mothkit nodded Yeah but why tell us that story now? She thought "Well we have learned a lot in those four days, and that will make us a lot better then the other kits, maybe we will have a chance then to be something great after Featherstar's time and we can maintain lasting peace with Lakeclan and Sunclan!" Starlingkit mewed Leopardpaw laughed "You two do learn very quickly. But now I will teach you to climb and jump." Mothkit tilted her head in confusion "We already know how to jump Leopardpaw." Leopardpaw purred "I will teach you how to jump higher and higher and how to climb even the steepest of walls. So to jump farther and farther we must go farther into the cave." They padded in further, until they were walking in total darkness.
Then there was a faint light, Mothkit ran towards it she saw a tree with a bunch of claw marks, bathing in sunlight. "What are we here for?" she asked Leopardpaw "The tree, you jump and you scratch the farthest point you get to. And no cheating there's no point it doesn't help your training. Whenever you need a break dont hesitate to take one, we have about a moon until you two become apprentices right?" they nodded. Leopardpaw's face grew deadly serious "Then if you want to become the best cat you can be then start training, I am not your friend here I am your mentor, I will not be light on you I will be harsh and if you cant deal with that then I suggest you leave!" Starlingkit and Mothkit stood up proudly "No way Leopardpaw!" She harded her gaze on the two kits "Then we get started now and we end at sundown!"(And if comments are weird and dont line up with the chapter part, it's because the same story parts for the original chapters, well I'm editing those and writing on them again, so this would have been the Mothkit/paw's backstory chapter in the original chapters)
