I reserved a table here at Endless Summer Cafe while waiting for Ianna. Her archi class just finished a few minutes ago, and she said she's on the way. (She even teased me that this is the first in a long time that my timing was good. The nerve.) I already ordered our usual, so that when she's here, the food is ready.

Ianna arrived at the same time the food did. “Oh ano?” That's her greeting. I rolled my eyes at her.

“Ngayon lang us nag-meet ulit after weeks tapos that's how you greet me?” I pouted. She scrunched her nose. “Oo, hindi ka na kasi nagkekwento. Pati dami kong plates. Pagod na 'ko pre.” This made me feel guilty, since I invited her over just for me to let out some stuff going on.

“Luh, sorry I didn't know. Oks lang if we just eat now if you're not g right now to listen—” she cut me off with “ano ba, alam mo namang game ako basta ikaw. Yieee, kilig na 'yan.”

I sighed. “Okay. So ganito kasi. You know naman I've been classmates with Juan for the past three semesters…” I started telling her. I told her about this sem and how we're classmates in two subjects. I then proceeded to the event last week wherein Juan gave a note to me. This shocked her.

“Pre, akala ko dati kamandag mo pang mga ano lang,” she teased. I scoffed. She continued. “Uy pero I'm legit shookt. Akalain mong nagbibigay pala si Juan ng ganon? I mean, it's Juan, and, you know… 'yon. Tas sa 'yo pa. Wow.” This got out a “same, sis” from me.

“Uy, but wait there's more,” I said. “Uhm, you know naman I'm so bulok sa PE. Since high school naman. So uhm… I took a wager this sem and asked Juan to teach me how to play ball.”

“What? Who is this girl in front of me please bring back Laya,” she said with mock horror on her face. We laughed in unison. “Hoy, I didn't expect na magagawa mo 'yun. I mean, knowing you, mataas pride mo so mas pipiliin mo dapat mag-practice mag-isa,” she said matter-of-factly. And honestly, what she just said rings true. I would rather die than ask help. It just doesn't sit well with me.

Before I could retort to what Ianna said, though, she asked a question. “Anong sagot niya sa tanong mo?”

“Kung bakit ka mahalaga?” I joked. “Char. Surprisingly beh, he agreed.”

Ianna raised a brow. “Weh?”

“Yes. In fact, that's really why I called you kanina. Kanina lang us nag-settle ng everything, kanina lang me nag-ask and all, he agreed kanina lang din.”

Ianna looked confused. “Don't they have training today tho?”

Shoot. I did not realize that. “Baka naman cancelled…”

“Lol, sure,” Ianna said despite her looking unconvinced. “Anyways, basta ingatan mo puso mo. 'Wag tayong marupok dito.”

I hit her arm. “Huy, I just asked him to teach me how to play ball. Naman, Ianna, nothing more,” I said with a frown. She laughed at me.

“Sige, sabi mo eh. Basta sinabi ko na sa 'yo.” I shrugged.

“Anyways, how's archi life?” I asked, changing the topic.

“Sabi ko nga kanina, yoko na pre. Daming plates,” she sighed, exhaustion plain in her face.

“Sus, I know naman you can do it! I'm here to support you all the way. Dream mo 'yan ever since eh; don't give up now.” I replied.

“Talaga? Gagawin mo plates ko?” Ianna said enthusiastically, but laughed and shook it off after.

“Kayang-kaya mo 'yan! Yieee,” I lightly punched her side. She half-smiled. “Sana nga.”

“Huuuy, before we get all emo here, why don't we grab some ice cream? Vanilla, to cheer you up. My treat,” I smiled.

Ianna nodded and smiled back. “Thanks pre, appreciate you. Yieee.”

Our small dinner out ended with our stomachs and hearts full, but I couldn't brush Ianna's statement out of my head.

Basta ingatan mo puso mo.

Is there really anything to worry about?
