The next morning, I woke up early. Way too early. It was just before 6 AM.

It was because I couldn't breathe.

Out of all days, why did my allergies choose to hit me now? A Tuesday, of all days?

I wondered when will I ever get good sleep.

When I got home last night, my family still wasn't home. (It was a good thing I didn't forget to bring my keys.) I decided to wait for them because I was worried, so I spent my time trying to do some requirements for subjects but failing to do so. They arrived just before midnight, with tired looks. I tried asking my parents where they went, but they passed the question to each other and no one responded.

Maybe some other time, I thought. Thankfully, my brother simply seemed tired of coming home so late, but not really emotionally.

I still wasn't able to sleep agad that night, probably because I just woke up at around 5 PM. I was able to finish some homework when they were all sound asleep. The tiredness came only around 2:30 AM.

And the allergies hit merely three hours after.

I dragged myself out of bed and downstairs. My mom and brother were already awake, both preparing for school. My brother was shocked to see me up, since he knows I'm a late sleeper.

"Mommy, gising na si ate!" he said as he took another mouthful of food. My mom froze for a moment, then continued about the house. I ignored my brother's comment and walked straight to where the medicine box is.

"Nag, bakit gising ka na?" my mom asked. I coughed in response and croaked, "allergies."

My mom's face suddenly softened. "Kain ka muna bago uminom ng gamot."

"Not—" I sneezed hard, and was finally able to breathe better. Thank you, Lord. More sneezes followed. I washed my hands after and grabbed a handkerchief. "Not hungry pa."

My mom made a tsk sound and asserted, "no. Eat first."

I sighed. "Yes ma."

After eating a little breakfast, I drank some antihistamine and tried to go back to sleep. Unfortunately, my drowsiness was no longer there, so I lay in bed doing nothing for a moment, occasionally bursting into fits of sneezes or coughs. To add to that, a headache made itself felt because of the cold I had.

I decided to sit out of my PE class later that day. I was pretty sure anyway that I wouldn't survive it 'till the end. However, I couldn't let myself not attend Stat that afternoon--the prof said he'd be giving additional points at the end of the semester for those who would have perfect attendance.

I need all the extra credit I can get.

"Sigurado ka bang papasok ka pa?" my mom asked in a worried note, trying to convince me not to go to class anymore. I nodded and said, "kailangan po eh. Bye ma, I'll stay safe."

I put on a mask to prevent other people from catching the virus before I went on my way.

I arrived just in the nick of time, which was very unfortunate.

My prof always gives his quizzes at the start of the class. Basically, he already had his questions flashed when I arrived. He always started exactly on time. So if you come just exactly on time, you're surely going to need to hurry answering. To make the situation worse, I was sick.
