Mckenna's POV
The fever hadn't let me go,if anything it held onto me tighter, clinging me like a newborn baby to its mother. Uncle Banner had been very worried. He gave me some new form of antibiotic which seems to be slightly helping, the strongest pain was in my head, like somebody was constantly standing there hitting me with a baseball bat every few minutes.
Being sick sucked, although it was better getting sick here than in the orphanage. In the Orphanage there was a room and if you got sick you and a few others would stay there for two weeks. Just water,Bread and grapes were brought in small portions. Nobody came in to check on us,nobody really cared, once the two weeks were up we would go back to our regular schedules. Here getting sick was more focused on,here I had a father who read to me in the morning and before bed. Here I had a mother who stayed in my room as I slept going over medicine Plans with Bruce, who's main goal at the moment was making sure I felt as healthy as a horse. I had Aunt Wanda and uncle Bucky who came in (secretly) to sneak my some copies of the latest newspapers, and they a,ways tell me if my head starts hurting just stop reading for s bit and clear my head. The wonderful Peter Parker passed a flower stand each day coming back to the tower, and each day brings me a new flower to add to my colorful bouquet, then uncle tony,Clint and Sam would bring me snacks that I enjoyed. And finally uncle Rhodes would come in here and quiz me on new topics as a way of studying without making anything worse.
I felt amazing in every other way but health.
Even though I am grateful for everything I have and everyone who's here I can't help but feel B O R E D.
The only way I cheer myself up when everyone is busy is take a bubble bath,I like humming to the tune of "wouldn't it be nice" by the beach boys,at this point I don't feel embarrassed if someone hears me. Especially after last weeks incident when my Aunt Pepper came in to say say goodnight and complimented me on my choice of music.
So here I was sitting in my bath debating how long I wanted to stay in here. An hour? Maybe two?
My thoughts were quickly interrupted by a knock on the bathroom door. "Who is it?"
"Sweetie its mom,is it ok if I come in,I have some warm towels." I smiled at her tone,it always calmed me down.
"Sure,it's not locked" and within two seconds my mom was already by my side. "Ok so,after we dry you up dad was thinking we could go out ,Bruce said that the weather is a bit warmer but you will still need to wear long sleeves and pants to keep your temperature balanced, you still need to stay warm, hence the warm towels."
I chuckled at her as I wrapped one of the towels around myself. "I haven't been out in ages." My mom looks at my with one eyebrow raised "It's been two weeks Hun,"
"Proving my point"
She continued to laugh as I began dressing myself.
"Are you warm enough? Because I can bring you an extra sweat-" "Mom,I'm fine I promise, will you braid my hair?"
"Sure sweets, just let your hair dry and then I can do it."
"Where are we going anyway?" Mom laughed again as she slightly shook her head
"I should have been more clear,it's a surprise"
"A surprise?"
"Yes"3 days earlier
Steve's POV
"Ok so I know you guys are curious as to why I invited you all here."
Sam,Bucky,Bruce,Rhodey,Tony,Clint,Scott,Thor,Peter(quill) and Drax were all currently sitting in the living room on Steve's floor.
"This better not be some sort of patriotic seminar about the disgrace of cursing capsicle"
I rolled my eyes at Tony's comment
"No Tony it's not I have a question to ask all of you. Last week I walked into Mckenna's room. She didn't notice that I was there. All she was doing was staring at the ceiling, her eyes were puffy, her asthma had gotten worse,I know what that's like. Wanting to do anything but sit still,I know what that's like. She looked, well she looked miserable."
I noticed how everyone's expression changed, their features softened.
"Anyways I wanted to do something, something to cheer her up and I was wondering if you guys could help me come up with something."
"Steve I understand,I do,one hundred percent but she's just not well enough
"Well I have to do something"
"Take her for hot cocoa when it gets dark"
I shook my head
"Sam it gets way to cold at night."
"I'm Asguard my father used to Take Loki and I fishing,we would make a day of it, my father and I had an amazing time bonding."
Bucky then took this time to ask what Loki did.
"Oh he would fall in the like most of the time, getting eaten by the fish. Never once did we try to help him out, my father said that it built character."
Thor's face turned guilty within a matter of seconds.
"I don't think McKenna would like a lake considering that she still has a fever and her nausea could kick in at any moment."
"You and I used to go get root beer floats everyday after school, take her out for one of those"
"She can't have soda Buck, she had a bad reaction to it last time. Plus I'm pretty sure that the soda shop is long gone."
My daughter used to love playing in the pools of Xander. She was quite the swimmer my girl."
I could see Drax wipe a tear away from his eye, I immediately felt guilty.
"She shouldn't swim right now not in her condition."
"Bruce is right Drax, but I promise, one day you and McKenna can have a beach day one she's better. She really enjoys your company"
Drax nodded a small smile on his face.
"Why don't you take her to the library, Gamora and nebula took her the other day she loved it."
"It's a good suggestion Quill but I want to take her somewhere she's never been before."
He nodded and proceeded to think
An idea suddenly popped into my head
"Do you guys think she would like the Brooklyn bridge? Then maybe we could come back and watch the rocky horror picture show"Clint shook his head and chuckled. "She's a young girl Steve think of something young"
"You know Cassie likes play grounds, you know what outside cold weather, bad suggestion."
I began to feel more stressed by the second. I looked up and saw that Tony was smiling
"Any ideas Tony?"
"Well I have a friend,Brian Cashman. He's the general manager for the Yankees, couple years back I donated to a charity event that they arranged, a gave a pretty generous donation actually and he said that he owed me. There's a game in a few days. Supposed to be sunny, and she can have a warm drink on the house, free refills. I heard it was going to be packed but,I'm sure he can pull a few strings. Only if you like the idea"
I smiled at him
"I love the idea, thank you Tony."
"No problem cap, anything for that girl. I officially declare this meeting over."Present Day
"Ok so You got your coat?"
"Check"
"Water?"
"Check"
"Extra hour ties?"
"And my hairbrush. Where's dad?"
"He's in the car sweets he just had to make some coffee, don't worry he got you some hot chocolate."
"You can't even give me a hint"
"There are no hints for surprises"
"What kind of rule is that"
"The kind of rule that doesn't ruin the surprise "1 hour later
McKenna's POV
Every 14 seconds my dad reminded me to keep my eyes closed as he carried me on his shoulders. It was crowded,I could hear children laughing and a few adults arguing. I also smelled the alluring scent of hot dogs and nachos.
"Ok Steve, time to divide and conquer you get the sunflower seeds and hotdogs and I'll take McKenna to our spots.
"Mooommmm"
"Just give me two seconds and then you can open your eyes.""Ok ready"
"Ready"

"I think I like this surprise?"
"Yeah?"
"Yeah"
I was about to adjust my seat when suddenly I bumped into somebody
"I'm sorry"
"My fault"
The voice sounded familiar
I looked up to see a pair if hazel eyes
