When I write books they are from roleplays I have done and am actively doing and that is how I write these books.
Sometimes I just kind of think up something and try to put it into a book...sometimes it's hard and it's why I don't publish a lot of books or even finish them correctly or at all.
So if I take a hiatus from a certain book then work on another one then it's just me lacking the motivation and or creativity to finish that specific book.
