"Happy birthday, baby" Billy's deep, husky voice came down through the receiver making you smile
"Thank you" you sung back as you sunk onto your bed
"Did you get my parcel?" he asked you as you heard him grunt as he sat down
"I did" you looked to the side of you, a small box wrapped in packing paper, Billy's handwriting scrawled across the front of it
"Did you open it?" he said with a smile
"No, not yet, I was waiting for you to call" you answered as you balanced the phone against the crook of your neck, picking it up and placing it in your lap
"Good girl, well, I gotta get to work soon so c'mon, open it up" he said excitedly as you heard him grin
"Alright, alright" you answered, smiling. You tore at the paper and let it fall to the floor, you picked at the tape that sealed the box closed and ripped it off, opening it up and looking inside.
You giggled slightly as you reached inside, pulling out a pair of black, lace, French panties
"Billy..they're so pretty" you commented as you thumbed the fabric gently
"I told you I'd buy you some more, remember when I ripped those ones off you that time?" he said in a low tone and you could almost hear him biting his lip
"I remember" you said happily
"I want you to wear those when I come to get you from the bus station, okay?" he ordered with a chuckle
"As if it was ever in doubt, Billy"
"3 goddamn weeks is too long without you, you know that?" you heard him complain with a sigh
"I miss you too" you said back sadly
"But hey, it's only like, what? 3 more days?" you continued, cheerfully
"That's right and I got the rest of the week off and we are not leaving this fucking apartment" he said as you heard him start to move around, the jingle of his keys sounded down the phone
You reached into the box again, you pulled out a small, hinged box and clicked it open, gasping as you saw the content
"I guess you found the other gift, huh?"
Inside was a delicate chain and from it hung a silver cross pendant, you picked it up gently and smiled
"It's beautiful" you said dreamily as you ran your thumb over it
"Well, I figured you could bring a piece of Hawkins here, y'know so you're not giving everything up" his words making you sigh contently
"Thank you, why are you so good to me?" you said softly as you placed the necklace down, pulling a bus ticket out of the parcel and grinning
"You know why" he teased, playfully
"Yeah, I do" you replied to him quietly
"Alright, well, I don't wanna be late for work so I need to head off" the sound of him pulling on his jacket and a zippo clicking filled your ear
"Okay, well, will you call me later?" you asked with a slightly needy voice
"You know I will" he charmed, with an obvious tone, comforting you
"Have a good day at work!" you wished him happily
"I'll try, speak to you later baby, I love you"
"I love you too Billy, speak to you later" you cooed as you waited for the phone to click dead on his end, you placed the handset down and glanced around your room slowly, a holdall slumped by your door, with your clothes and some belongings inside, a traveling outfit hung up on the back of the door and your book; a handmaid's tale on your dresser still coated in mud from the yard.
