Chapter 1 - The Accident

My name is Katrina Payne. I know your wondering, so yes, I am related to Liam Payne from One Direction. He's my older cousin (our dad's are brothers). He treats me like i'm 5 years younger than him, but I'm only 2. That's probably one of the reasons he's called 'Daddy Direction', he was used to doing it with me, so he does it with all of his band mates. We live'd next door to each other in Wolverhampton, West midlands, England, before he tried out for The X-Factor and made it through the live shows, and became huge pop stars.

But this story starts before The X-Factor, and ends way after it...

Chapter 1

"Hi Liam!" I screamed as I saw him walk out of his house. I'm 13 now, and Liam's 15.

"Hello Kit-Kat." That's his nick name for me - Kit-Kat's are my favorite candy. "Are you ready to start your first day of Year 8?"

"Of course. It's going to be brilliant! I'm so exited."

"Well I'm happy sis." He treats me like a younger sister, so sometimes he'll call me sis. "Shall we start walking?"

"Yep." I say popping the 'P'.

My day was going great. I got to catch up with my friends that I hadn't seen since the last day of Year 7. I loved all of my teachers. They were great, and the classes didn't seem all to hard.

In the middle of 5th period, which is when I have English, I was called into the office.

"You wanted to see me sir?" I say.

"Oh, Katrina." His smile faded. It was as if he was trying to hide it though because as soon as the frowned, he tried to smile again. "How are you?"

"Just fine. What is it that I was needed for?"

"Come in and sit down Ms. Payne." I saw something in his eyes, so I knew, whatever it was, it wasn't good. "I've got some news for you. It will probably come as a shock."

"Yes?" I questioned. What could it be?

"Your parents, and your little brother... They... Katrina, they were in a car accident an hour ago... Your father... He's the hospital, but your mum and brother... They died instantly..."

I was speechless. I didn't know what to do. There are no words to describe how I'm feeling right now. What would my life be like now? How is this happening to me? What have I done so bad that I deserve this? My little brother... He was only two! He had such a long life a head of him... And my mum... How was I supposed to live with out her... She was my mum! She did my hair every morning, took me on shopping trips... Took me to London just to spend time together... What am I going to do?

"Can you bring Liam in here?... Please?..." I croaked.

"Of course. We'll have him in in a few moments."

(Liam's POV)

My day was going great. I wonder how Kat's doing? She was sure excited about today. Lost in thought, I didn't hear my teacher calling my name.

"Mr. Payne!"

"Yes, ma'am?"

"Can I see you out in the hall for a moment?"

I nodded and followed her out.

"What is it?"

"Your... Your aunt, uncle, and cousin were just in a car accident... Uncle is in the hospital, but your aunt and causin... They died instantly... Katrina is in the office waiting for you..."

"What?!" I couldn't get out of that room fast enough. How could this even be possible? They were fine this morning! They were waving to us as we started walking to school! I ran as fast as I could to the office. When I walked in, I saw a red-face Katrina with tears pouring out of her pretty blue eyes.

"Kat."

She got up out of the chair and ran towards me. I held her as she sobbed into my chest.

My poor little Katrina. She was like a little sister to me. It was my job to look out for her, and then this happens. I know I was taking it hard, but, I can't even begin to imagine what she's going through.

"Can we go to the hospital?" I asked our principle.

"Yes, of course. I'll have nurse Nancy take you there imediately."

"Thank you."
