The feminism movement isn't needed in Australia.'

'Feminists aren't fighting for anything.'

'They want a fair fight- but when we give it to you, you complain.'

'Women don't need empowerment here.'

All things that have been said-

By my female friends.

And that ladies,

Is the problem.

I want you to abandon any ideas or prejudice you have about feminists.

Just, bam erase them.

And listen to what it really is.

The definition of feminism by the 'Merriam Webster Dictionary' is as follows;

"the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes"

Hear that?

Equality.

Not  power.

Equality.

And not just among women.

'equality of the sexes'

And that means it isn't just about women getting equal pay, because it's true, Australia's pretty good on that front.

'Political, economic and social equity'

That means not only giving everyone equal power in democracy,

Not only making sure that the same work gets the same rewards,

But also that men get more freedom to express emotion.

Women can get bulky and play sport.

That there is no 'weaker sex'

And there is no 'smarter sex'

If you believe in equality-

Sorry babe, but you're a feminist!

It isn't all burning bras and marching in streets.

It's about a demand.

A demand for equity.

For everyone.

Not just women,

Not just men,

Not just political,

Not just economic,

Not just social,

All areas. All equity.

Feminism is a movement.

Not a destruction.

So please,

Believe in it.
