The Bridge
"Bryant Foster and Henry Roycewitz were killed from the impact. Three crew still remain unconscious and at least a dozen have minor concussions," Faraday explained to the group gathered before him.
The science officer had run into Captain Stone, who was on his way to the med bay. Faraday decided it would be best to gather all the ranking crew to brief them instead of repeating himself. As such, they were all in the bridge now.
Marshall Evans and his deputies (including the now awake Stevens) joined the bridge crew, along with the two ranking Marines, Lieutenant Wirth and Sergeant Simmons.
"Thank you, Faraday. Conway, give us a rundown," said Stone.
The helmsman sat at his station, and moved so that the group could see his monitor. The report varied very little from the one he gave earlier, except now he knew the precise locations for the atmosphere leakages.
"Okay. We'll send in the techs to repair the hull as best as they can. Repairs could take up to 12 hours, it all depends on how fast they work and how bad the damage is. Laidlaw, I want you and your crew to make sure everything in the cargo hold is still secure," Stone ordered.
"I'll get the crew on it ASAP," replied Laidlaw.
"Shoot us the damage reports and we'll get to work on repairs," said the lead engineer.
The pair both left to gather their respective workers. That left just the science/medical department, and the security department.
"Lieutenant, if you could spare any of your techs, we could use the extra help," said Stone.
"All my Marines are ready to help in anyway they can," Wirth replied.
"Thank you. I also need security on standby. If a raiding party sees the sorry state we're in, it could spell trouble. I doubt anything will happen, but just be cautious," said Stone.
"Affirmative," said Marshall Evans.
With that the others left, save for Faraday and the bridge crew. The science officer looked considerably upset about something. Stone could already tell what it was though.
"We'll hold a funeral service when we return to gateway. There's no point in having a service and having to jettison the bodies when we're so close to home. I want the families to be able to bury their own," Stone said softly.
"I understand, Captain. It's just a shame it happened at all, so close to home," Faraday smiled weakly and left.
Stone sighed and turned to his crew. Smith was finally awake, and sat at his station. His mug from earlier was broken, it's pieces in a trash disposal somewhere. He now had a styrofoam coffee cup instead. He held it awkwardly, not liking the feel of the styrofoam.
Conway looked distraught, perhaps even more than Faraday did. He was sending reports to the technicians PDAs and drinking from a bottle of water. Drops of sweat slowly ran from his hairline along his forehead.
