I couldn't really decide if I was doing the right thing. My fingers hovered over the keyboard like a lost hiker in the forest, afraid to go into the cave for it could lead you back home or distance you from the real world further. And that's when I realized: the cave will never lead me back home. It will surely distance me from the place, but, I do know that that place isn't my home anymore. It's just a place I used to feel comfortable in, not where I belonged. And yes, the end of the cave leads to a new world. And yes, that world is empty right now. But someday, someone's going to take that cave and they're going to meet me there. And someday, my town will take all the people that hovered over that keyboard and sent that message. Because my world in where the good people belong. And when you get those texts maybe your going to have to send one someday, and I'll forgive you when you take the cave. The misfits are the ones who have become themselves, and the island of toys doesn't seem so bad after all. It's when the King's toys don't have anything to play with that they realize what they've done.
My fingers hovered still over the letters and looked at the delete button and then at the contact name.
"Tell me," I said to myself in my head. "Are you still that lost hiker?"
