"Yeah." "Its just I've had alot of stuff on plate recently. I knew mom would listen to my problems and help me out."
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, just stupid stuff."
"Why did it seem like Gareth didn't want you to be over there?"
"Are you sure u wanna know?"
"Of course"
"Well um, last time I was here my moms boyfriend. He kinda, he hit me. Really bad. I got a broken nose and bruised eye. And some minor cuts. "
"Why did he hit you?"
"Honestly I have no idea. I think it had to due with the fact I am adopted. He never liked me. He was like Anna's stepdad. When I came into the picture he hated how mom treated me. He hated how I became her favourite boy. He didn't want mom to adopt me. She did of course."
"Im so sorry. Thats awful."
"Its fine really. Mom adopted me around My 17th birthday. He resented me. When Anna and I moved out he was so happy. I made regular visits to see mom. She was always happy to see me. Last time I was there though. She wasnt there. It was last year. Um, around Christmas time. I went over to surprise her."
"Mhm"
"He was there. She wasnt and when I asked where she was he got mad. Called me entitled and spoiled. Said that I took up too much of her time. He hit me with the bottle he had in his hands. He kicked me down and started beating the shit out of me."
"Oh my god Parker"
"When he stopped I ran out of there or at least tried. I drove to my apartment, tears in my eyes. I almost died on the way back. Considering she lives a solid 2 hours away from me. "
"Jesus Parker"
"When I got home, mom was there. She had decided to surprise Anna and I. I told her what happened and she immediately called the cops on him. He only got a month in prison. Tried to come back to mom but she kicked him out. "
"Wow, im sorry."
"Im fine now. But thats why Gareth hates when I go there now. Well this is my first time since the incident. He just wants me safe. He is my bestfriend and I don't know what I would do without him."

"Did you say bestfriend?"
"Well yeah, I've known him since I moved to America. He really is a gift."
