Chapter 24

Revenge, it is the act of inflicting injury in return of being hurt by the same person. Revenge is something a man should never plan. It harden the heart of men.

I tapped my fingers on the railings. Revenge was all that was clouded in my mind. Standing in the terrace impatiently waiting for the spy whome I had sent to Agabah to keep an eye on Ebule and the activities going on there.

He groaned and lifted himself grabbing the railings and pulled himself up to my chambers terrace and stood in a black hood and removed his face mask.

"Jaaachi. He said on his knees.

"Speak up. I impatiently commanded.

"The Agabah troops have increased greatly and highly skilled, they train their troops forthy times a week. They have a secret underground tunnel which links to other neighboring kingdoms and serves as secret entrance to these kingdoms including Ayeey. Also they have a secret weaponary room filled with weapons, advanced ones which will be foreign to our troops. OnuIdu and his general are already planning for the war..they're also going to gather more troops from their conquered territories, thousands of them.. In other words we'll be faced with doom on the battlefield if we don't act fast. Your majesty. I think it's time to make peace with the brotherhood. He added nervously glaring at me.

"Hmmmm.. The brotherhood. I said thoughtfully. "Furqan. Still the baddest you've always been yet smart. Nice play. I said stroking my beards with an evil smirk. "Oh! The girl! What about Ebule? I asked again and the spy sadly dropped his head. "Speak up!!!! I said pulling his collar.

"OnuIdu nearly beheaded her and I had to act fast. My heart tightned.

"What!??? That bastard! Wh-what did you do!? And he explained the events to me how he appointed an old woman to stand up for Ebule.

"Hmmmm..I exhale softly. You did well. I handed him a purse of coweries.

"Jaaachi!!! He greeted and jumped back from the terrace climbing down the highwalls in the spy way.

I sat down on the chair placed in the terrace and poured myself a calabash tumblr of palm wine mixed with dry gin. "Very clever bastard. I said and drank it in one go and let out a hiss as the drink burned my insides. "It is indeed time to make peace with the brotherhood. I said.

I pulled the reins of the horse and jumped down from it grabbing my fur cloak closer to my body due to the wind and coldness of the high mountain. A chill breeze blew making the tiny strands of hair on my neck stand up. I pulled the fur cloak over my head and grabbed my hiking tools. The only reason why I and my brothers are good at hiking was because of the mountain fortress where the brotherhood meets. By brothers I mean the brotherhood of the clan. Not necessarily by blood. The brotherhood was divided into five levels of hierarchy ; the overseers, the lawmakers, the warriors, the peace keepers and the brothers.

The overseers were councils of nine great kings from different clans, from the eastern part, western and southern parts. With substantial powers to dispute the peace of the lands. But that was not the goal, the goal was to create peace within the kingdoms. It seems all joke to Furqan. According to him, peace was a bullcrap! It Can never exist between kingdoms. That was why Furqan withdraw from the brotherhood.

The great kings each are guided by their own Achadus (prime ministers) and the prime ministers have their own warriors. The peace keepers and law makers work in line with the Achadu also they have their own assassins incase of any dictator who rise will be dealt with. And the brothers were great powerful princes and also princess. It was all a big game of tit for tat. But no one could point fingers, it will only end in a war if they did.
