Soulmates are complicated. Some people have none, others have up to four soulmates. Some never meet their soulmates, being alone forever. Others settle. Soulmates can develop over time. You can meet a person, and still see no color, and later you can lay eyes on that same person, and suddenly your view is colorful and bright.

You spend your life in black and white, seeing no colors, until you see your soulmate for the first time. Over time the color can fade, when you fall out of love, or when your soulmate dies, and can turn red when your soulmate is close to dying.

Everyone suspects soulmates to be perfect, but that isn't even close. The process of soulmates are far from perfect, yet everyone can't wait until they see color for the first time, when they lay their eyes on their soulmate.

Well, soulmates are shit.

According to Castiel.

At 19 years old, he has yet to see color. And, he wasn't suspecting to see any color ever. He has accepted he probably had no soulmate, and he wasn't that surprised at the fact. He saw himself as unloveable. Yes, 19 is fairly young, but all of Castiel's friends have found their soulmates, so why hasn't he? The question kept floating around in Cas' mind.

He couldn't be bothered by these questions, though. As his first year of college loomed ahead, he got more and more anxiety. The idea of soulmates pushed out of his mind, being overwhelmed by the dreaded thoughts of college. It was his first year, and he wasn't ready, at all. All he wanted to do was crawl into a deep hole, and die there.

So, when college was starting in a week, Cas was a mess. He had his stuff packed and thrown into his car, ready to drive to his new house, when he says house, he means a small dorm room he has to share with another person, fun.

"Have fun, lil' bro," Gabriel said, patting his brothers shoulder. His other brothers, Micheal, Lucifer, and Balthazar, wished him goodbye too, before letting him drive off to his new future.

The school, the University of Kansas (in Lawrence, Kansas), was about three hours away from his old house. Nothing big or fancy, just a normal, boring college.

Cas parked his car in student parking. It took him forever just to find a parking spot. When he finally stopped his car, he let out a sigh. He was relieved to be done driving, for now, but his heart started beating faster at the thought of his new school. He was completely deserted and abandoned by his friends and family. All alone in this new, big school.

Eventually, Cas calmed down enough to get out of the car. Quickly, he got his bags out of the trunk, and began the trek to the college.

The grass was grey, so were the trees, the people, the cars, everything. Maybe one of these people is my soulmate? Cas thought, then pushing the thought away in a second. No time for soulmates.

After a bit, he stood in front of his new school. His shoulders were sore from carrying his backpack, and so was his hand from pulling his suitcase the whole way there. I really should start working out... He thought, disappointedly.

The University of Kansas loomed in front of Cas. The great grey building casted a shadow on Cas' small figure. Students breeze past him, zipping through the double doors to their rooms, or to socialize, or whatever college students did.

Cas turned around as he felt someone smack into his shoulder, roughly.

"Watch where you're going!" The same person that bumped into Cas, yelled.
