my fingers clutched your hands as my nails dug into your flesh and the room filled with sweet sweet syrup, red like the raspberry juice my mother used to make every summer. broken bottles and torn promises laid scattered in your room as you writhed within my grasp. but i held you tight, 'Cause my love, i wouldn't let you go, i couldn't let you go. you gave me peace, and in you i saw the dirty yellow light of a lighthouse on an ocean of deep sorrows beckoning me home.
