Awaken, Chapter 3

Shiori stretched as she awoke to find the bed messy and empty. She frowned peering around but seeing no one. She had no idea what time it was but it felt like it was still time for sleep.

"Did Obito have a nightmare?" Shiori pondered trying to quietly walk out of their room in search of him.

She found him on the couch, mask on, alone.

"Obito..?" She asked softly as he didn't move.

She came up and sat beside him as he tensed up a bit.

"What's wrong?" Shiori asked concern filling her eyes.

"Nightmares.. I apologize if I woke you. Let me take you back to the room so you can sleep." Obito softly ordered as he tried to stand up.

He was stopped by a firm hand grasping his own.

"Don't apologize. Just come with me." Shiori firmly spoke as she got up from the couch leading him to the cave's exit.

He performed the signs to open it fully curious as to what her intentions were. She held his hand the whole way to her destination still confusing Obito.

They stopped in front of a small river close to the base and he relaxed a bit.

"I saw this the other day when I was training. I caught a glimpse and remembered you said you enjoyed to be by open water." Shiori exclaimed with a warm smile on her face.

Obito pouted and held her close in his arms.

She felt his knees starting to give so she helped lower them down to the ground since he was still holding her. You could hear the faintest cry causing her to remove his mask.

She was met with a tear soaked Uchiha.

"Obito.." She softly cooed as she ran her hands into his spikey short hair kissing his forehead.

"I... dreamt of Rin's death.. but you took her place instead. I tried to save you but... Kakashi killed you before my very eyes.. I couldn't save you." Obito explained his nightmare between sobs into Shiori's chest.

"I'm here aren't I dear? I'm not going anywhere near Kakashi. He has no control in my life any longer. I am safe and happy now because of you. So don't worry!" Shiori comforted making the crying male in her arms start to calm back down.

"Thank.. thank you Shiori. I truly am lucky to be by your side. You make my life less hectic." Obito whispered sitting up a bit to face her.

He planted a loving and soft kiss on her lips as their foreheads met.

"I am happy for that, Obito. You make my life happy as well. Would you like to lay up and watch the stars? My brother used to do that for me when I had a nightmare. It helps!" Shiori chirped giving him a closed eye smile.

He blushed a little and laid back into the grass beside her. She laid back as well and pointed out different constellations like her star sign, Sagittarius and his, Aquarius.

They stayed that way for a couple hours before he noticed he heard snoring. He gave a small smirk seeing her passed out cold.

"Thank you, Shiori." Obito whispered as he lifted her up to teleport them back into the base to sleep in doors.

----Time skip to morning.

"Ugh.. is it morning?" Shiori groaned as she started to sit up in bed.

"Where is Obito now?!" Shiori shouted out looking around.

Suddenly the smell of pancakes and eggs floated down the hallway and under the door.

"Oooooh, I knew Itachi could cook pancakes but not eggs..." Shiori cooed as she took in the delicious smells.
