The air stills as the Demon of the Mist on the Uchiha-sensei stare at one another with narrowed eyes, a short breeze causes the leaves to gently sway, as one rouge leaf separated from its branched. The mist seemed to cover the clearing with a thick white blanket, to where you can see only a faint outline of the branches from the surrounding trees. The group watched the tense moment snap, as Zabuza and Obito disappear and suddenly reappear in the center of the clearing. The bystanders watched the clash of metal, of the executioner's blade and a chakra enforced kunai, as the shockwave of the colliding blades could be heard and felt by those near the clearing.

After the first clash between the two jonin, they jumped back a few feet, putting a bit of distance between them. All the while, Obito's Sharingan were activated, illuminating a soft crimson glow with the tomoe circling like a pinwheel. The Uchiha's eye always followed his opponent, studying, watching, every move. Every hand movement, movement of the executioner's blade, every twitch of the muscles before moving in for a punch or reading his stance for a kick. That the Momochi kept throwing against him repeatedly, only having enough time to block each relentless attack.

While on the sidelines, Iruka pulled out a scroll and started writing a defense seal to protect the kids and the bridge builder. After ensuring that they were safe behind the barrier Iruka began forming seals to attack in case Obito needed back up. However, the Umino knew it was too dangerous for him to join the fight between two high-level jonin. And with the mist being so thick he doesn't know if Zabuza was traveling alone, or if there's other shinobi around hidden under the cover of the mist.

Sasuke watched as his cousin's fight raged on for several minutes, as it appeared that the two were evenly matched and could hear Naruto silently cheer their Sensei's victory. However, with Obito's Sharingan and Zabuza's sword skills, neither ninja had a visible advantage. At least to the students, the match looked equal, as they watch Obito take a right hook to the face after elbowing Zabuza in the ribs.

The rogue Mist Shinobi was getting sick of this back-and-forth match, and in his frustration decided to swing his sword directly at Obito's head in a quick attempt to end the fight. While the Uchiha-sensei managed to get out of the way just in time, and all Zabuza's sword caught was the edge of the metal plate of his forehead protector, which caused it to untie and fall onto the mud of the newly upturned grass. Zabuza chuckled to himself. He may not have been able to gain a physical advantage over the Uchiha, but he knew stories that could lead to the chance to gain one of a different kind.

"Why not use that little lightning move that you stole from your little dead friend," Zabuza mocked, with a sadistic grin under the cover of the bandages.

Obito flinches at the bait before weary red spinning eyes turned sharp and deadly. "What did you say?" The Uchiha spoke through gritted teeth but was unable to dodge the kick planted into his gut making him slide back.

"Oh, come on! Everyone knows that you were a nobody before you got those fancy eyes of yours!" Zabuza spat, as he was able to put a cut on Obito's forearm when the Uchiha sloppily block his body from the large blade. "And, how you got that fancy lightning show of a jutsu! Did you ever tell your precious little genin?" Zabuza spoke with a tinge of anger, unfazed when Obito's kunai put a shallow cut on his left cheek, as the bandages soak the blood like a sponge.

"What's he talking about Sensei?" Naruto asked as Sakura shared the blonde's confusion and Sasuke stayed quiet since he heard the story from his cousin, Shisui.

Zabuza grinned as he spoke in a storyteller tone, "it was the story of how three child soldiers were tasked with destroying the famous Kannabi Bridge. One was captured, the other two went to save the captured soldier, only for the youngest child, the prodigy of the team to give their life, to protect the other two child soldiers. Then one of the two remaining soldiers awakened their Kekki Genkai and stole the technique of their fallen child soldier."
