Chapter 4:

Kyle's [yay for the new POV!! :3] POV

*~*Flashback*~*

When Kyle Was 13...

"Mooooom... Where are you?!" I called out to the house, getting no answer but my echoing voice. "Are you home, Mom? MOM?"

No answer.

Mom didn't go to work; she worked from home while I went to school and Dad worked until 8 P.M. She's always in the kitchen when I come back at 3, but not this time...

"MOM!!" I yelled, rushing to my parents' room down the hall. I pushed the door open, and as it banged against the wall, I took in the horrid sight. Mom was laying on the bed peacefully with a small smile on her face as if she was having a pleasant dream. She was a sickening pale, which was abnormal since she was a dark tan. Her jet black hair whipped around her face as the open window let in gusts of air. She wasn't moving.

I slowly moved to her bed, my hand extending to hold her upper arm. I shook it gently, not wanting to startle her when she woke up.

"M-mom?" I breathed, hoping she would hear me.

"Mom. Mom, wake up. Y-you have to wake up... Mom..." I whispered.

"Mom. Mom. Mom." I continued shaking her harder. Her limp body moved beneath my hand like water.

"Mom..." I said, tears sliding down my cheeks. My tears fell into her hair.

"I never got... to say goodbye..." I choked out. My heart started racing, fear flowing in my veins. Anger spread through me, feeding the fear. Panic settled in, and I went crazy.

"MOM!! MOM, GET UP!! I NEED YOU, MOM, I NEED YOU!! NO!!" I cried out, shaking her furiously. I grabbed the phone and dialed 911 [the emergency number, for those of you that don't know], hating every ring that sounded through my ear.

"911, what's your emergency?" a female voice said with a calm voice.

"Please, send help. My mom is dead," I said into the receiver.

"Okay, stay calm. We're tracing your call. The ambulance will be there soon. Don't hang up," she ordered. I heard a few more orders from her, but I didn't pay attention.

"Did you check her pulse?"

"NO! Are you stupid?? She's DEAD. Just send some help!!" I spat.

"What happened?"

"Well, if I knew that, I wouldn't have panicked, now would I?"

"Sir-"

"Just shut up and get some help!!"

Sirens wailed outside my house, and I glanced out the window. Police officers and an ambulance screeched to a stop in the middle of the street, and a man and woman were pulling a stretcher up the driveway. My dad pulled up seconds later, slamming the car shut and rushing up to the door.

"They're here. Bye." I ended the call and calmly walked out on Mom's body and out to the front door.

I opened it up for Dad, who had been fumbling with his keys to unlock the door. Dad pushed me out of the way, and I fell to the floor with a thud. I watched as he ran to his room. I listened as he howled like he was in pain. The emergency personnel pulled him away from her corpse, and they loaded her onto the stretcher, laying a white blanket over her without hesitation.
