I grabbed my purse and ran out the door to meet my twin sister Rose by our car, a red beetle, so we could go shopping for new clothes before the first day of school. I turned on the radio and we drove to our town's biggest mall. Our mom had given us each $150 to spend, plus the babysitting money we had been saving all summer. I pulled into a parking space in front of the mall and we hopped out of the car.
First, we decided to enter the Body Shop and get some more of their Chocomania perfume because it smells like heaven to Rose and I. We set it on the counter and were about to pay until Rose realized that she left her wallet in our car. "We'll be right back," we told the cashier.
I waited outside the mall and watched as Rose sprinted across the parking lot. On the way back, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a car pull out of its space. It was right beside Rose. "Rose!" I shouted at the top of my lungs.
But it was too late.
The car didn't stop.
Rose didn't stop, either.
