I was sitting down in the waiting room outside the ICU when a lady with dark brown skin and bleached blonde hair pulled up into a messy bun walked up to me. She was wearing Kermit the Frog scrubs.
Kermit the Frog was- no is. Rose's favorite cartoon character.
This wasn't making me feel any better.
"Are you Lily Richardson?" she asked.
"Yeah, I am. Do you know anything about Rose is doing?"
"That's why I'm here, Lily. I have some bad news. Rose is in critical condition."
"So will she get better?"
"We don't know. Her left leg is broken in two places. One of her lungs is partially collapsed. She has a concussion, and internal bleeding. Your sister is also in a coma. If she can't start breathing on her own soon, well, we'll have to take her off life support and there's nothing else we can do. But she will be in our prayers tonight."
I sank to my knees and wept.
