Mend Myself

I wake up lost

Why am I here?

Why am I on this vacation?

Was it to show how pathetic I am?

I go downstairs to get breakfast;

You are there with her.

She walks over with a gleam in her eye.

"Hey Addy, nice to see you", she says.

I look into her kind eyes,

I stare at the diamond ring on her finger.

"Likewise Nina, I'm vacationing", I say.

She is too good for you.

You are a dirtbag,

Who sleeps with anyone with legs.

"Enjoy your vacation", she says.

You bring your arm around her waist.

"Love, let's eat breakfast", you say.

You look happy with her.

"OK let's eat", she says to you.

She kisses your lips gently.

"I'd say see you later Addy,

But we are leaving tonight", she says.

You both saunter away,

And your hands clasp together

I run as fast as I can

I'm sick of this

What am I doing?

I take this free trip to recover,

Everyone but your wife knows.

The affair is not public knowledge.

But my family knows,

My friends knows,

And my boss knows,

My reputation is gone.

You are the one who told them.

You tell them lies,

You tell them I need help,

And they believe you.

Only a few people remain,

After the wreckage you leave behind.

So I took the first flight out of there,

And Look where it leads me?

I need a sign to keep on.

I run fast,

I don't see anyone,

And I trip on something hard.

It is the sign from yesterday,

"Snorkel and swim with sharks", it reads.

A phone number is beneath it,

I take out my phone,

And decide to take a chance.

A polite male voice answers.

"Hello, can I help you?, the man asks.

Why yes you can help me, I think.

"Hello, is anyone there?", the man asks.

I smile widely,

"Hello, sorry about that,

But yes. Yes you can help me", I say.

I feel a tingle in my toes,

"I want to go on an adventure", I say.

I have nothing to lose.

The voice lists a bunch of excursions,

I listen attentively and book all of them.

"Are you sure", the man asks.

I am sure,

Its the first time I am sure of anything.

"Yes, I deserve an escape", I say

I give them my hotel number;

The tour bus will pick me up tomorrow.

It will pick me up for the next 2 days.

My phone beeps,

It is a message from you.

I toss my phone in the sand,

I don't look back,

I go to the bar,

The bartender recognizes me.

"Another margarita", the bartender asks.

"No thanks", I say.

I want something new for a change.

"What can I get you', the bartender asks

I don't know

"Surprise me", I say

The bartender mixes a drink

It looks delicious when complete

"Its on me pretty lady", he says

I beam a grin in his direction

He looks into my eyes appreciatively

"See you tomorrow", he says

I down the whole drink

"Maybe, thanks for the drink", I say

I head back to my hotel

I can't wait for tomorrow
