Saying Goodbye is the Easy Part

I am at the airport

My vacation is over

But I'm ready to go home

I don't have a phone

I don't have a job

I don't have people who wait for me

I have hope though

And it's enough for me

I am thankful for this trip

This trip of a lifetime

I take a sip of my water

I breath in the air

And watch everyone rush around

I enjoy the solitude

I bring my hand to my hair

It is brighter from my days in the sun

I am grateful for every moment

A voice jolts me from my bubble

"Ma'am, are you going to catch the plane", a bystander asks

I didn't even realize it is time to leave.

"Thank you", I say to the bystander

I walk onto the plane

I sit in my first class seats

I head back to the place I live

'I will miss it here', I think

I arrive at the airport in my hometown

I grab my bags and head out

"Addy, where have you been", a voice says

The owner of the voice grips my arm tight

Honestly, I forgot you even existed

but here you are.

"Nate, I set myself free", I say calmly

I turn away from you

"For what it's worth. I'm sorry.

I will leave her Addy. I swear", you say

I see your eyes

I remember Aayan's words

'Addy, when you see the elephant,

stare into its eyes,

and tell me what you see'

I see the truth

"No you aren't sorry, but it's ok", I say

I start to walk away

"I swear to god Addy,

If you walk away right now, it's over", you say

I walk away

"Goodbye Nate", I say

You do not expect my strength

"Screw you, Addy", you yell
