Mari tugged the patched up sweater closer to her chest as another breeze flew past. Ottie was placed upon her knees, the two in a deep conversation as they waited for Rip to arrive.
"How long is this gonna take? We've been out here since last night." A moment of silence passed by, Marigold not speaking as she listened to Ottie. "Well, do you have a better plan? We have nowhere else to go and I don't feel like robbing another family for their house again. At least this way we can have a nice bed to sleep in, food every day, and some fun all at the price of one."
After another moment of silence, Marigold couldn't help but roll her eyes. Ottie has been her best friend since she was a child, sure, but that didn't give the stuffed asshole a right to be such a...you know...asshole.
"Either way, you don't have much of a choice, now do you? If you don't come, who's gonna take care of you when I'm off adventuring? Not a hero, that's for sure."
When Ottie didn't say anything else, Mari smiled in victory. The two of them didn't argue very much, but when they did, the female of the pair always liked to draw that card.
The sound of a car driving towards their selected spot caught the pair's attention. Once it stopped before them, the old man stepped out of the driver's seat. Mari caught a brief glimpse of the teen from before knocked out on the passenger's side.
"H-how long have you been here?"
The oldie addressed Marigold, staring at the female with a strange teddy bear on her lap. Why was she sitting on the ground and only wearing a stitched sweater with shorts in this weather, he would never know. Honestly, he didn't even want to ask.
"We've been here since yesterday night. I don't know where he is though." She shrugged slightly, going back to playing with Ottie.
"Professor!" The others started to arrive, becoming very wary of one another since everyone decided to agree. "This is the place."
"I think we're being punked. Do people still say 'punked'?" 'Has this guy also been out of time? I've been in a psycho ward most of my life and even I know that people don't say punked.'
"No."
"I see your buddy threw himself a going-away party."
Mari finally stood up from her cross-legged position on the ground, pulling at the ends of her tattered sweater. The others took notice of her weird attire but said nothing about it. Some just assumed that it must've had something to do with why Rip chose her.
"Yes, I believe he drank something that didn't quite agree with him." In other words, oldie drugged the guy. Man, do these people get more interesting by the minute.
"You don't look too happy to be here." Parka addressed hawk girl this time, catching notice of her agitated stance.
Mari twirled in her spot, clutching onto her bag to make sure that it didn't fall. She was starting to get bored again. Good things don't happen when she gets bored.
"Well, I see you've all decided to come." Trenchcoat finally appeared, causing Marigold to stop twirling and give the man at least 13% of her attention. He better make it count. "Well then, we can be on our way."
"I ain't footing it anywhere."
"A Time Master's sacred charge is to do no harm to the timeline. Can you imagine what a timeship would look like in, say, Victorian England?" Mari's eyes widened as she thought to herself.
That sounds like something Doctor Who would say. I should really finish that show when I get the chance.
"Holographic indigenous camouflage projection."
