"Hey, so who decided we needed a flash mob?"

Grizz's voice cuts through growing the crowd as Elena and Avery approach. The rain has since stopped and now Elena watches as the football players approach the center of the crowd.

"I did," Cassandra says and stands in the middle beside Helena and Allie.

Avery and Elena stay close to the edge. Elena looks out at the crowd and sees everyone there, with worried faces.

"What the fuck, Cassandra?" Grizz asks, annoyance clear in his voice and Elena is slightly surprise by his irritable behavior considering Grizz is usually very sweet, but she can't exactly blame him as she figures everyone is on edge right now.

"It's better than 200 people sending texts. Has anyone been able to reach anyone?"

A chorus of "No" comes from everyone, and Elena thinks the students look more sad than she's ever seen them. But, she assumes that has to do with the fact that they don't have cellphone service than the fact that something weird is going on.

Cassandra thinks for a second and she puts on, what Elena can o lay describe as, her game face.

"Okay, well there's-theres definitely a simple explanation," she says confidently, like she believes what she's saying. Elena doesn't, though. A feeling of dread has settled into the pit of her stomach and she knows something isn't right

"Like what?" One of the meatheads, Jason, speaks up.

"Uh, they were-they were evacuated."

Looking out at everyone's faces, Elena can see that they're not convinced. Maybe she was wrong and they're not just upset about their phones. Maybe these people actually have the capacity to care about more than just superficial things.

"After we left. And there was a miscommunication, and we were brought back here by mistake," Cassandra continues.

"Someone would still answer the phone," Kelly speaks up, her arms crossed over her chest as she looks at Cassandra unconvinced.

"Maybe they're asleep. I don't know, maybe they're some place with no reception. They're in a shelter with no reception. In the morning someone will answer the phone."

"Maybe it's not safe for us to be here, if they all left," Elle objects. Elena is slightly surprised she said anything, she's not usually one to talk to anyone unless she has to.
