i can tell you think it's harmless
but it's lovin' that is hardest
if it's easier to show than say it
then show me so things fall in place
fall in place
fall in place
always drunk on the phone when you call for me ...
Ryan's sultry voice had ceased once she saw the studio doors open, revealing Summer, Nyla, and Nia. She smiled once she saw them enter, and slowly lifted her headset from her head. She ran her hands through her hair to smoothen it down and stepped out of the glass-surrounded booth.
"You didn't have to come out, we could've sat down and waited, boo," Nia says, smiling wide as she wrapped her best friend in her arms.
"No, it's okay. I needed a break, anyways." Ryan whispered, breaking the hug to embrace Summer and Nyla at the same time, who accepted it immediately.
"Could've sworn I tell you when you need a break, but okay." Drew, her producer, commented with sarcasm. Ryan looked down at him and groaned.
"Drew, don't do me like that. I've been recording all day. Please let me spend some time with my girls. We can finish The Same and half of the other songs tomorrow." She tried to bargain, her bottom lip starting to poke out.
Drew had been her producer since she signed with Atlantic Records, and he was definitely one of the best things that ever came into her life. Ryan was talented at delivering, but Drew could form each vocal so that it mended with each beat perfectly. He was amazing, but damn, he was very stubborn when it came to giving people breaks.
Drew looked at her for a moment. Her gave him a pleading smile, mouthing please. He looked down and shook his head, "Fine, Ry. But we need these songs recorded, so you're gonna have to be here early as hell tomorrow, right?"
She grinned, bending down to hug him around his neck. "Thank you so much, Drew. I promise we'll get em done."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm serious, Ryan. Early." Ryan took his serious to heart, but she never took it as intimidation since he wasn't as rude as he tried to make himself seem. Other artists found him scary, but Ryan just saw a big old teddy bear.
"Got it!" She yelled, grabbing her spare jacket and leading the girls out of the studio.
"Damn, they really keep you locked in there, don't they?" Nyla, who had found Drew a bit aggressive, said as they walked towards the lobby.
Ryan shrugged, somewhat agreeing and disagreeing. The label she had signed on was definitely strict about when they needed music, and even though it took time, dedication, and a shitload of non-existent sleep, it was worth it because she was doing and making what she always wanted, which was music. And at the end of the day, the label respected her well, so all her work was definitely paying off.
