If you looked just a little under this cover,
You might see something new.
For we humans rarely see each other
For something right and true.
We assume and judge and lie and hurt,
Try to lessen another's worth,
Accusations are passed and heard,
The lines of truth are bent and blurred.
For our eyes can only see so deep,
Yet not through the smoke that breathes so sweet.
No one ever really understands their friends.
No one ever really wants life to end.
But those who do, they're the ones who are feared,
So empty inside after crying all their tears.
They reached too high and got lost amidst their thoughts,
Though no one appreciated the fights they had fought.
Not many can see through this mask of an act,
They think I am whole and my soul, still intact.
Darling can't you see,
After all of those who leave,
Im bending until I break,
I'm tearing at the seams.
I wasn't meant to withstand this storm,
But it's too late now, I'm too far from shore.
The taste of your cigarettes has long left my breath
Not everyone understands the lure of death.
But those who do are the ones to be feared.
Because the ones who do are eternally revered.
