The Space Between Our Love (Thor x Carol Danvers)

(Narrator's POV)

It was like this most nights. Steve, Loki, Thor, and Carol were just outside in the balcony talking until one of them went to bed. Then sometimes Steve and Carol would stay outside even later, and this didn't go unnoticed by a certain god. Another god also noticed, he wouldn't have cared much if it wasn't for the lost in his brothers eyes. Carol and Steve have a lot in common, everyone saw it. Right now they  are heading out to have a ride in their motorcycle's.

"Where you guys going?" Asked Tony while pouring himself a drink.

"Nowhere of your business Stark." Carol responded, with Steve walking by her side towards the elevator.

"Those two have been going out for the past weeks, probably dating but they don't wanna say anything but I'm happy for them you know. Been trying to set Steve up for the longest time but ever since she came he has insisted on "No he's too busy"" He was saying to himself while pouring his drink, with a very smug smirk on his face. Suddenly Thor stood up and angrily went to his room.

"What's up with him?" Tony asked looking at Loki.

"He's probably just tired." Loki waved off, but exactly knowing what was happening to his brother. Tony nodded and decided not to push, then he left to his lab.

Loki closed his book, stood up, and headed to his brothers room. Loki saw that his brothers rooms door was a little open, he peaked, he saw Thor sitting with his back on the beds headboard, throwing his hammer towards the door, but not completely hitting, he had a frown on his face, now a lot more noticeable because of his short hair. Loki walked in, almost getting hit by mjolnir, but moving his head to the side just in time.

"Brother what has gotten into you lately, you seem very, what do mortals call it?... That's right, very depressed"

"Nothing is wrong Loki, it is best you leave it alone."

"Not if my brother is depressed. According to these mortal books, depression is very dangerous, it has to be talked about and treated, usually by the loved ones around you."

Thor was surprised to say the least, Loki looked concerned. Loki was concerned. Thor was happy, Loki has never really shown this much sympathy towards him, never really showed how much he cared. Now, Loki was sitting next to him, with concern lacing in his voice, a caring look in his eyes. Thor was shown to this new side of Loki, a side that Loki was ready to let him in and see. Thor easily caved in after a moment.

(Meanwhile with Steve and Carol)

They rode their motorcycle's all the way to an ice cream shop in Brooklyn, New York, it's somewhere Steve missed from back in the day, he wanted to show his now best friend. He wanted to talk to her, somewhere far from the tower, where she would actually tell him anything. There has been something going on with her, she had been acting very different. Now they were walking in the park that was right in front of the shop.

"So how are things between you and Y/n huh? I've seen you pretty happy lately since I introduced you."

Steve couldn't help but smile, his face going from serious too happy in a split second, his eyes shinning brighter than any star or planet she has ever come across. She loved seeing her now best friend this happy, she couldn't help but feel proud of herself for setting them up, when she spent days with Y/n and how she would just gush over Steve, and how much of a gentleman he is, truly made Carol gag and want to throw up, but support both her friends. Y/n is an ordinary girl, she's strong and fierce, doesn't like to take any shit from anyone, whoever they are, just like Carol, so when they met, they got along instantly.

About a week after she had moved in, and her and Steve were closer, she introduced them both. Y/n knows who Steve and Carol both are, she's 25, not stupid, but she's strong she can handle, which is why Steve and Carol always 'hang out' so he can be with Y/n without the team knowing. His way of keeping her safe, but he's been thinking about bringing her to the tower sometime.

"I, I don't know what to say, she's the best, I just- I just, I love her." His eyes lit up when he said the word 'Love' she just stopped in her tracks, he stopped with her. Carol looked like she was about to burst of happiness. He just laughed at his best friends state.

"Really?!" He just nodded. She started punching him repeatedly, making Steve complain of how much it hurt.

"Hey, hey, you're punches actually hurt remember."

"Oh yeah"

"Aren't you gonna say sorry?"

"No, why would I do that?"

"Anyway, Carol I've been meaning to ask you, I know your strong, but there are times you can't really hide it. Are you okay?" He smile faltered after that. Now Steve was getting ready to run, she just sighed.

"I just, it's..." She didn't want to tell him what was really going on, she was trying to come up with a lie as quick as she could, "I miss Maria and Monica, I want to go visit them, but sometimes I wonder if they still remember me. I left to space, haven't really seen them since, I just wish I could go and say 'hi' you know." She wasn't lying, she really did miss them, she just didn't want to say anything about what was really going on. Soon after they left back to the tower.
