The first thing Sakura noticed when she woke up was that she lay on what felt like a hospital bed. Then, suddenly she remembered why she was there.

She attempted to sit up, but pain shocked through her body from her lower stomach area that forced her to lay down again.

"Calm down Sakura." Sakura looked over to her right and saw Anko standing there, leaning against the wall.

"What happened with the finals? How bad was I injured? Did I do good?" She asked in rapid succession. Anko just smiled and shook her head slowly.

"Let's see, the second round is about to begin soon. The small backwards jump you did at the last moment probably saved your life. I don't know how bad it was, but it wasn't good." Sakura let out a breath of relief at that. "I would also like to say that you did brilliantly. You followed the plan and impressed a lot of people. The Uchiha managed to actually turn a lot of people against himself."

"What was that last attack? I have never seen something like that before."

"That was Kakashi Hatake's sole original technique the chidori. An A-rank assassination technique." Anko bit out, her voice laced with venom. "Many jounins are angry with him for teaching that to an unstable genin. He tried to defend himself by pointing out that Gai had taught Lee how to use the gates. The problem with that is that the gates are used to strengthen your body. The chidori only have one purpose. To kill."

"So I was lucky to survive is what you mean?"

"Very lucky."

Before Anko could continue, drowsiness fell over both of them. Quickly recognising the signs of a genjutsu, Sakura broke out of it.

Gingerly she walked over to Anko and was just about to break her out of it when the door was slammed open and a shinobi from Otogakure stormed in, kunai in hand.

In one movement, the same instance she broke Anko out of the genjutsu, Sakura threw a kunai she had taken from her sensei. The throw struck true and the kunai imbeded itself through the side of the enemy's neck gushing blood.

"What's going on?" Anko asked as she woke up. Looking around she quickly figured it out. "Damn genjutsu, my worst subject." She saw how Sakura had stopped in shock and realised that this was her students first kill. Cursing silently she slapped the girl.

"What? Anko?"

"Listen now Sakura. Something is happening so you will follow me as we take a look. Know that you're still not close to being fully healed so take care." She handed Sakura her equipment and they walked off.

Reaching the stadium they saw a full scale invasion and Anko knew what they needed to do. She turned to Sakura and issued her orders.

"Soldier, we're faced with an invasion by the combined forces of Oto and Suna. I want you to stay out of sight and wake up every chunin that you see are still stuck in the genjutsu. When you're done with this section, help drive away the invading force. Copy?"

"What about the civilians?"

"Leave them, they will only cause chaos."

"Copy."

Anko was off and Sakura stealthily made her way under the top row of seats. She crawled under them until she reached the first chunin. She quickly lifted the genjutsu and explained the situation. Receiving a thanks she continued to the next one.

Just as she finished waking up the last one, her fifteenth, she felt her instincts flare and she moved stiffly to the left, pain shooting through her body from her wound. Where she stood a Suna shinobi appeared. Not thinking, Sakura pulled out a kunai and slashed the enemies achilles tendons before finishing him off by driving her kunai into his brain.

Looking around and seeing that she didn't miss anybody, Sakura left the arena to help defend her village.

Jumping from roof to roof, she took out her opponents with kunai and shuriken from a distance. She felt in her holsters that she was down to two kunai when she saw a lone Konoha shinobi, he looked like an ANBU but with a blank mask with a symbol on, that was alone against six enemies.

Approaching behind them, Sakura took out one enemy with a kunai to the back of his neck. She gained the attention of two Suna shinobi.

The first threw a punch to her side that she avoided at the last second by stepping in and inbeded a kunai in his chest.

This gave her last opponent time to create his technique. He created a wind sword and swung it in an upwards angle that Sakura didn't manage to completely avoid. He cut her from her right hip up to her left collarbone. He finished it up with a kick off the roof.

The last thing Sakura saw as she fell to the ground was a spider web of shinobi wire that was lit aflame.
