I stood up and threw it right into her head.
She stopped walking and seemed to freeze for a moment or two when she slowly turned her head towards me. I could see her face filled with an angry horrified expression. Her eyes were wide with hatred and she screamed. The scream was loud enough for everyone in the cafeteria was already looking at us. Her two friends were so shocked that they weren't able to process what happened.
"Oh, YOU DID NOT JUST DO THAT!"
She turned to face me. Her eyes were deadly as she walked towards me. Oh gosh. I gulped and braced myself. She stood a foot away from me and I could she that she was taller than me and suddenly, I felt very small yet I managed to look at her straight in the eye. I could smell the strong scent of her perfume which made me want to gag.
A crowd was already forming a circle to watch us. This is really bad. I can see her fast approaching toward me and then I felt a sharp sting on my cheek. Oh god. She slapped me. I can see her lift her hand for another slap and I closed my eyes and just waited for the sting to come.
You can handle this... You can just tell your dad what happened and I'm pretty sure you'll never go back here and experience this again... Wait...no... I shall not tell my father about this or my freedom is at stake. I just don't want to risk it.
I waited for the slap to come but there was nothing. Nada. I slowly opened my eyes only to find out that her hand was hanging... no... more on like being held up by a masculine arm. I stood up straighter and saw Monique's angry flushed face staring at a blonde guy in front of her.
"Stop this, Monique.", the blonde guy said and I could seriously see his face filled with disgust.
As I stared up at the blonde guy, I just realized that it was the guy from earlier who helped me find my class. I looked from the guy to the girl Monique and saw that Monique was flustered and was stammering.
"Ch--Charles! What are you doing here?" she asked, her eyes wide with shock and shame for being caught red handed.
"I was about to eat my lunch when I saw these people crowding and look what I found." he rolled his eyes and let go of her hand.
Monique was speechless for a bit and told Charles that it was my fault and that I provoked her. Provoked her? Wha...?? Me? Provoking someone? I couldn't take it anymore, the new environment, the new people, the fight brewing and now the blaming? Tears are starting to form on my eyes so I looked down so that they wouldn't notice. Then, Charles looked in my direction and said something that I couldn't hear because my mind was confused about everything that happened. Then I realized that he was still talking.
"You're still new here and I would suggest that you stay out of trouble. You should go to your class now." he said it without arrogance and it sounded more like a warning. I just nodded and slowly walked out of the cafeteria.
"Where the hell is she going?" Monique demanded. "Monique, just stop it and let it go." the guy Charles said and this time I could hear his annoyance. The moment I was out of the cafeteria I rushed to the nearest restroom and softly cried.
